Best explanation for Dodecahedron by far.

Burning the discs and message boards to get rid of the evidence of the encoding process was the explanation I had come up with after watching the previous video. During any attack on the fort, the bronze Dodecahedron could have been tossed into the fire along with everything else, and retrieved after, if there was anyone left who knew about its utility. That might explain why they're found all over, but with no accompanying explanation of their purpose. I'd also imagine some of them were melted down and the metal used for other purposes, and it's only the few that remain that we know about.

The code breaker would probably be burned with the equipment as well.

Not sure that the theatricals add to the contents importance - the sophistication of it's manufacture, the number found across a wide area at statistically related sites shout out as proof of your thesis despite not having any code wheels . Where you go from here is hard to describe . It is a masterpiece of geometrical and mathematical thinking combined to express a variable solution usable by unsophisticated yet trained operators practically . Its borderline genius - the lack of supporting code wheels is annoying but not fatal for the academic historical community to embrace it . Further proof reinforcing the objects astonishing existence in large numbers would be to invite the doubters into a metal casting workshop with only the equipment and heating available 1800 years ago and work them through the process in making just one - let alone one hundred. I would have difficulty to adapt modern shortcut thinking into Roman techniques especially in making the wax 'masters' , the key to the manufacturing 'mass' production. It really is an amazing object so obviously designed to function with other, now absent, pieces such as your wheels . Proof may be hard to get.

Thanks very much @jonviol - yes I think that the doubters would certainly have their heads turned by the 1800 year old casting process as you suggest ! Much Appreciated. Cheers Matt

When people complain where are all the other dodecahedrons, remember the roman empire created tons and tons of coins, weapons out of metal. Only those items well lost or hidden are found. Most were melted and re used. Brass and copper were used as money. Other uses as knitting is silly. Expensive casting for commoners?
@Matt.Geevan

Thanks Ray ! Your comments are much appreciated - I think you are 'spot on' with your lost or hidden theory and also the re-casting - Well Done !

There is no reason why a dodecahedron cipher made in AD59 needs to match with one made in AD214, the same applies for British and French versions. An Army division would have them made to the current specification, all identical for the correct number of battalions. They would be used for limited internal communications, and obsolete versions would be destroyed.

@i0i Thanks very much for your reply ! Yes - I totally agree with your thinking; situations would have changed quite often during the era of use of the Dodecahedron Coding System. I think that the Dodecahedrons would all be identical for a specific Communications Group. Cheers Matt

Spaces: There were no spaces between words in ancient times. Any attempt to hide the length of words was pointless.
@Matt.Geevan
@Matt.Geevan Ай бұрын
Many thanks for your reply, but Romans generally did use spaces, or interpuncts (dots) in inscriptions, between words for a considerable chunk of their history.

Also what you are doing is for the ages. People will take this up in future generations as more things are uncovered. When that will be, we don't know... but you have bought yourself a little immortality. Caesar and the boys, would love to see it's taken someone 2000 years for someone to even begin to crack it.
