Admiring your technical expertise! Personally I would invest into razor sharp test probes to avoid slippage. But you are calm and did it all the right way. Before the age of conformal coating I remember dry joints or of course vermin contamination. Diodes serve a critical role in smps. In Australia most R410 systems get dumped because there are no skilled board technicians and replacement boards are too expensive. If the unit is mounted where access to the board is not possible then opening the refrigerant circle is rarely performed as technician time is too valuable. Huge thanks for your patient and clever way to show us to save such boards.

What is the difference between the diode you replaced and the other, small ones, that you checked before. I wonder why they are not all the same shape! Thanks.

There's difference in Vf forward voltage drop, but most important maximum average forward current and reverse breakdown voltage. Also kee in mind it needs to be fast recovery i.e fast switching diode.

Those diodes are, as I can see from this side, 3 same ones are bootstrap diodes.
