Iv had my 750 for 7 years and almost 80 thousand miles now. Honestly might as well rip up the title now since it's clearly not going anywhere 😂

Yes sir! 2011 Honda Shadow Phantom rider here since 2017 and love it. You're right that it can do what you want. I will throw the disclaimer that it is still my first actual motorcycle but I'm perfectly fine with it 99% of the time. Also...No payment! Great video and words of wisdom on display.

I've had my 900 Vulcan for 3 years and completely agree with you. Had much larger bikes than the 900. But when riding them I'd always prefer the 900 vulcan.

Cruiser. I mean, I call my 88 twin cam my lil tractor. Riding around enjoying the view doing 50mph is a lot more relaxing then zooming around.

I have an 03 Honda shadow spirit 750 I got for 2300$ my first bike with 19000miles on it I’m NEVER selling it I want to make it as cool as yours!! I also own a 19 48 special and even though it’s night and day difference I’m still loving every second of my shadow!

For the price and reliability these bikes they are hard to beat. Also "cool" is always subjective, make it YOURS!

I enjoy my 750 H. Shadow Spirit and I've added risers rfor the handle bars , and I've got a Mustang seat . I also put a hand bent 2-1/2 foot sissy bar on it . Ride on man ! , and enjoy life on a Honda . I enjoy the heck out of my single cylinder 250 Yamaha . Life's great !

It just won't cruise at 90mph like everyone does here in texas. You'll have mini vans passing you and regular passenger cars. That's the only issue. I have almost 70,000 miles on mine and it has been bulletproof
@LuckyAcesRiding6 ай бұрын
Yeah I would not want to try and sustain 90 mph on this bike.

I probably still have my 750 shadow but it was an 84 and parts were getting hard to find, thats how i ended up with my 1100, and its more than enough.

once you own a shadow, or any other comparable metric bike, the resale value becomes negligible. it doesnt hurt to keep it stashed as backup vehicle in the corner of your garage for those days you need to make a parts run, or just a fun zippy city ride for errands.
@LuckyAcesRiding7 ай бұрын
Exactly. Also resale value is not an issue. I bought this bike to ride!

I agree the shadow is a "nice" bike. What I mean is, it's very easy and forgiving to ride. It's handling is good for a cruiser, it's power isn't overwhelming and is delivered in a such a way that even ham-fisted imputs won't end up with the rider taking an unexpected get-off. It's well sized if you're under six foot, and has been around long enough that the aftermarket and used parts supply will keep you on the road forever, without new bike payments. It's simple to work on (especially old carb versions like mine) and reliable enough that basic maintiance is all you end up doing anyway. Oh, and liquid cooling means, when I have to go play in city traffic, the Harley stays home, and the shadow gets the miles.

It is a simple machine without all the extra bells and whistles that in my opinion just get in the way.

Nothing wrong with any 750 . I've had 550s with more power than my aero . If you bought a 750 cruiser for racing , you bought the wrong bike . Insurance climbs after that displacement .

Shadows are great. I think if I had different bars, it would actually be a forever bike for me... my 750 Aero does 50 over any posted speed limit, that feels like more than enough power 😂

I owned a Harley touring bike(road king) a Harley fxdl(Dyna low rider) and a sportster...i maybe put 50 miles on between them a month, i was always on my shadow lol, if i let someone borrow a bike to ride with me, they picked the shadow. Honda Shadows look the cruiser part, they ride smoothly and reliably. and they are way more intuitive to ride than harleys...dobt get me wrong, i do love harleys, but theres just something about Honda that just works for me
@LuckyAcesRiding7 ай бұрын
Similar for me as well. I have the 1600 Kawi Mean Streak but usually end up riding the Shadow.

I love all sizes and types of bikes. I have worked on many Shadow 750s and one benefit of that engine is when you get tired of riding it the engine would power a generator for as long as you kept gas in it. After a nuclear war there will be cockroaches and Shadow 750 engines left!

I am almost certain oil changes are optional in these engines. Not seriously of course but like you said they just keep running.

From what I hear 5000 miles seems to be a common number. If nothing else I change mine at the start of the season since I don't do a lot of big rides.

"Could you KEEP the Honda Shadow 750 FOREVER?" Unfortunately no. Parts availability is becoming a problem. The Japanese don't support their products, and there is no aftermarket. I have been riding Kawasaki Vulcan 750s since 1993, when I bought my first new one. I had over 80,000 miles on it when I traded it for a new 2001 KLR650. That didn't work out, so I traded the KLR for a new 2002 Vulcan 750. The engine in that one failed around 108,000 miles due to a broken cam chain. I found a nice low mileage 1997 model, transferred all my accessories over to it from the '02, and am keeping the '02 for a parts bike. The Vulcan 750 hasn't been made since 2006, and parts are becoming very hard to find. I have over 200,000 miles on the three of them combined. If you want a bike you can keep forever, get an older EVO engine Harley. The aftermarket makes every single part for those, including engines and transmissions. Japanese bikes and newer Harleys are designed to be disposable. They have no long term future.

Do you NEED to ride a motorcycle or is more of a want? Could you do something, and should you do something are 2 completely different questions. If you are saying that thing cost 8 grand... You can get a 2011+ BMW R1200RT for the same price. It is superior in every single way. Brembo steel braided brakes, electronic suspension, better 2 up, heated seats/grips, storage, electrical ports built in, drive shaft, cruise control, electronic wind shield, better handling, better acceleration... just to name a few. Could you cut a steak with a spoon? Ya, but it isn't something to be proud of. Yet a lot of you will be so proud, "look at me! I am eating a steak with a spoon, its all I need! You should get rid of your forks and knives and eat steak with a spoon too!" If you are low skilled rider that likes to hide and get overwhelmed by traffic, the Honda 750 just might be your forever bike!

@@njgfpv3696 Damn right it is. I managed to not get overwhelmed by traffic this morning while riding it as well. I also looked at the listings for the bike you mentioned. Yeah, I'm not interested in spending 8k on a 10+ year old bike with 45k miles on it that may or may not have been kept outside or laid down or well maintained. That is just buying someone else's problems.
