Reject the whole speed argument. I'm 57, have ridden 250s and 750/800 my whole life. I always obey the speed limits. The moment you let someone else bully you into driving in any way you do not want, is the moment you have lost control of your vehicle: that way leads to disaster. To those folks: There's a lane to my left, pass me if you insist on breaking the law and driving unsafely. Meanwhile I'm loving life, relaxing, and enjoying the ride. I will never need a bike bigger.

The funny thing is people used to ride 500 and 650 bikes all the time, but now they claim it can't be done on today's better medium size bikes.

After 50 Years of oil spills from leaky Nortons and Triumphs then shifting to the shaft drive Moto Guzzi's and then years of Harley Fatboys with tiny gas tanks and limited mileage and now a 750 Shadow. Perfect bike. Has the Harley comfortable ride position for the older rider, the single carb for easy maintenance and the shaft drive like a BMW or Guzzi. And the water cooling to cope with the endless jams in city traffic. And then the build quality of Honda. And under 1000cc which cuts the insurance cost in half where I am. Should of looked at this years ago. What's a real motorcycle? Maybe the Shadow isn't because it doesn't come with all the headaches.

I went from a Super Tenere 1200 to 650-750 motorcycles. When I got my Shadow, I could have bought a VTX1800. But, I prefer mid-size motorcycles. BTW, I live in Texas and have had no issues with my Shadow 750.

I'm currently driving a Suzuki LS 650, and I do mostly highway 1,2 hour ride to work. Works fine for me in regards to speed etc. I want to "upgrade" because I am uncomfortable on it for those lengths. Currently looking at either Honda Shadow 750 (Black Widow), and a Kawasaki VN900 Custom. Prog gonna go with the Vulkan.
@LuckyAcesRiding
@LuckyAcesRiding 3 ай бұрын
Can't blame you for leaning towards the Vulcan. The power to weight ratio between your LS 650 and the Shadow 750 is pretty comparable and I think you would be happier with the 900.

Won’t buy another Honda motorcycle until they bring back the 1300 engine in the Shadow series. Previously owned a VTX 1300. Best bike ever.

The Shadow 750 is a substantial, well-made motorcycle that handles well, is comfortable, has ample torque for real-world street riding, and it'll cruise at 75MPH all day long on the highway without a second thought. It'll cruise at 85 all day, just a bit more buzzy. I don't know what more any bike needs to be a "real motorcycle". Here's the thing: I would say all the exact same bout my old Ninja 250. I did 300+ mile day rides on that thing all the time. As for the "one motorcycle forever" bike, I'd go with a Suzuki SV650, though. It's a lot more versatile and it'll cruise at 95 on the highway all day long without complaint. The Shadow 750 is a close 2nd place to the SV, though.

I will never get rid of my 2001 Honda Shadow ACE750!....But I think you all ready know I have a ST1300, GSXR600, and as 3 weeks ago a 2000 Katana750. If you said to me I had to get rid of but one bike, the one I would keep is the ST1300. I live in Detroit, MI, and the farthest I have ridden my Shadow from Detroit is Atlanta, Georgia, and that's a 12 hour ride one way. I did however drop the rear sprocket down from 41 tooth, to 39 tooth to smooth out the highway ride. For me, and how I ride the Honda Shadow is an AWESOME all around bike!...stay safe bruh.

I’m 63 and have the fever again. About 12-15 years ago I was so close to pulling the trigger on a bike but didn’t. I don’t want this opportunity to pass me by. I went to a Big Motorcycle Store that sold the big 4 Japanese bikes. The first bike I saw coming in the door was a Honda Aero 750. I sat on it and really liked the lines and everything about it. I’m 6’1” and 225. The first thing the salesman said to me when approaching me was “That Bike is Too Small for You! I actually liked that bike. I am pretty strong and own my own company that demands a lot of physical labor. Done it for years. But the salesman was trying to put me in a VTX 1800. I haven’t ridden in years and that Bike had way more muscle than I wanted. I ended up not buying anything. That was when Honda had the 1100 Spirit and Sabre. Any recommendations welcomed.

The Honda 750 is a good bike but if you’re wanting to get on interstate travel , I’d go for the 1100. I use my 750 for in the city riding but I took it on interstate and it was maxed out to barely stay with the flow of traffic haha

I REALLY like the Shadow. Sat on one at the local dealer the other day. I just can’t get past the fact that it has inner tube tires. For me, that’s a deal killer on a road bike. Very limited options in the case of a flat tire while out and about.

In Australia you can not ride a shadow 750 until you get an advanced R class motorcycle licence . 650 cc is the limit for a learner and you must stay on a learners bike for a minimum of 2 years before you can re-sit your R class course and test to go to a bigger bike .
@LuckyAcesRiding

Is it limited by power or cylinders as well or just displacement? A Yamaha R6 compared to a VLX600 are two completely different machines.

To those people who made those comments....are you are motorcycle enthusiast, if you are, then a 250 dirt bike is a "real bike"! I the 60s and 70s when I rode, as long as you customized whatever you had, it was kool! Now in 2024, a Honda is not good enough at 40hp????? WTF?
@LuckyAcesRiding
@LuckyAcesRiding 5 ай бұрын
I think a lot of it has to with the bike not being what they want it to therefore it is not a "real" motorcycle. Can't go 120mph? No giant stereo? Not a real motorcycle. Harley baggers run $25k or more, the Shadow is around $8-9k. It must not be a real motorcycle because it doesn't cost as much!

im on a rebel 500 and wish it was slightly more powerful because its just screaming at 60mph it does it fine but i wish it had just another 100cc to be a little smoother at it do you think the new shadow 750 would be a decent option i think ive become obsessed with bobbers is there a decent aftermarket for the phantom
@LuckyAcesRiding
@LuckyAcesRiding 10 ай бұрын
On paper it seems like the Rebel 500 and Shadow 750 have a very similar power to weight ratio. I have not ridden the new 750 nor the Rebel 500 (only the 300 at the MSF course) so I can't say for sure. I can tell you though that my 2008 Aero 750 is around 4k rpm at 65-70 mph and sounds like it is screaming.
