You may want to check for holes around the bottom of your chicken tractor. We had that happen to us a few years ago. We had a chicken under our tractor and my husband David found a small hole were something crawled through grabbed a chicken , but could not pull the chicken out. Many Blessings to you and yours.

When you have finished planting the press pots, sprinkle some sand (play box sand) lightly over it (like powdering). This prevents insects from getting on and keeps the press pots moist and mold is not formed. To prevent diseases from getting into the pots. Tip is from Tina. Greetings from Saxony, Germany from Tina and Patrick

Goooooood Evening Al , Gina & Olivia , Your chickens are hopping over the fence because for them , the grass actually is greener on the other side. I think that they are telling you that it is time to move and re-fence New Yolk City. Those new kids certainly have a lot of energy.

Seeing this young lady actually doing chores without whining brings me some hope for the future... So many kids just bury their faces in their phones or iPads these days with 0 desire to go outside let alone do chores... You and your family work so hard and on top of it, you're recording it for all of us to see. I am disabled and I miss doing this kind of thing. I wish the very best for you folks. And thanks, for letting some of us live vicariously through you.

Al, what is going on with your weather? I was without internet for a week and when I got re-connected I started watching your back episodes and was surprised by the amount of snow you had in mid-May. Sure it melts in a day (usually), but still. I'm originally from Chicago and can understand a late snow, but I don't remember any in May. I retired to the Philippines where it is always warm (87-90 today), but it is still good to see snow again, as long as I don't have to shovel it. It is GREAT to see what you are doing on your homestead and I enjoy watching what you are doing and planning for the future. Good Job, Keep it Up.

Suggestion for the rutabagas / swedes: Try cubing them and steaming or boiling with sliced carrots then when done mash them and add a shake of pepper to your taste. Makes a great nutrient packed veggie dish to go with any meal. It's one of the first veggie dishes I tried when I moved to the UK from Iowa and it's served every week with roast dinner and occasionally with any other meal I choose. I absolutely love it !

A tip to help with the wind noise on your microphone. Cut the bottom out of a plastic bottle, that is the right size, cut a slit in it, and put it around the back of the microphone, to keep the wind from going behind the wind guard. The wind usually blows into the back side of the wind guard. The bottle blocks it.

Great job Olivia! Beautiful strawberry bars. How did they taste? The babies are so fun to watch. Too bad about that one chicken that got trapped. Looked like you got some interesting layers. I just got my first 2 chickens. They are supposed to be bantam blue cochins, the rooster is mottled and the hen also looks mottled. They are approximately 2 yrs old but I wanted to start with grown birds. Not sure i am ready for babies. After i get my coop built I'll be looking for a couple more hens to add. Hope they can all get along. Any pointers would be appreciated.
