Yeah that's as tight as you can go without killing it. Unfortunately I think it needs to go back to the boundary as a few inches over is ok but that hedge is taking the mick. Shame as it was a decent enough hedge. Leylandii must be kept tightly trimmed each year. People need to take responsibility for their property.

I did once read Leylandii and other types of hedging can seriously devalue the price of a home. You have taken that Leylandii back as far as you can. Any deeper and new growth would very likely not happen. Council may not accept that as the hedge is still outside of the property boundary and still obstructing a public footpath.

I really am struggling to say anything nice about conifer. It's an itchy, eye stinging nightmare. Have you ever asked how window washers who use pole fed brushes manage without people accidently tripping over the hose? I asked a couple and both replied back with "I'm insured" ! I need some leaf grabbers. Which ones would you recommend?
@LewisgardenservicesLtd2 ай бұрын
They're not my favourite hedge either and often outgrow themselves like this one. Thanks for watching and your comment 👍
@alanmunro8882 ай бұрын
It may look very neat but that's not enough. It's still sticking out too much. Pedestrians should not be hindered in any way. It needs to be cut back inside the wall. If the hedge then looks bad or even dies, then so be it. It should never have been allowed to hang over the wall in the first place.
@LewisgardenservicesLtd2 ай бұрын
Definitely should have been kept in line over the years to prevent it pushing out, I'd say it needs removing on that corner with the road...let's see what the customer and council decide about it. Thanks 👍

It’s always a conifer encroaching over somewhere it shouldn’t be! Why can’t it ever be something that’ll grow back if reduced 😅. done the best you can do really with it still looking green. Don’t particularly like working roadside, people do try their very best to fall over or act like you’re hindering their ability to walk 🙄

I’ll be perfectly honest. I don’t think anything should overhang your property. Unless it’s a tree which is not causing any obstruction to the footpath traffic Which this conifer? And shrub going down the wall and onto the path clearly does. Just another sidenote. it really frustrates me and lots of other people when blowers are used to blow leaves and debris into the road If anything, try and blow clear up any additional leaves around the area . Obviously without affecting you too much.
@LewisgardenservicesLtd2 ай бұрын
I agree, that should be cut back to the wall there but not my call and I'd actually cleaned up a load of leaves from the road that were from all the surrounding trees in council land, that was the first thing I did to make my clear up easier and work safer but I wasn't going to do all across the road that's for sure. Cheers 👍

So the hedge has had an enforcement notice (rightly so) because it's sticking out over the public pavement by approx 3 feet, blocking full access for people, also blocking road visibility. Youve been hired to sort it, and you've only trimmed off 6-10 inches 😅 yes it looks nicer, but the issue still isn't resolved 😂 why didnt you cut it back to the brick wall line, where the property boundary is?
@LewisgardenservicesLtd2 ай бұрын
I mentioned the homeowner was hoping the trim would keep them happy, I'm not responsible for the order or how much gets cuts off but I do what I'm asked and if that means calling back to remove the hedge that's another job. Customers choice to leave it at a tight trim for now, back to the wall would kill that hedge so we'll see. Cheers
