Wow, this brought back a lot of memories. I remember watching both Duckula and Danger Mouse as a kid and was surprised when I learnt that Del Boy voiced both of them

35 years old and I've never learned of anything more about him than his name. For the longest time I just thought he was something from one of the Donald Duck/ duck tales comics or like Maui Mallard. I'm enjoying learning about him.

I remember this series back when I was a kid watching it on ABC Australia back in the late 80s. Always enjoyed the series since I was also watching Ducktails at the time, so it was easy to gravitate to this series despite having no real relation to the Disney Duck universe.

My friends and I watched this in our early twenties. I loved the joke credits they'd sneak in. Things like "Catering by Lunchpack of Notre Dame." Another running gag was those four hapless thieves, who would repeatedly fall while scaling the castle. Despite being roped together, it'd always be "Thud! Thud! Thud! (pause) Thud!"

Dang it, I grew up with both Count Duckula and Danger Mouse, BUT I never saw them crossover 😮 never could imagine both in same cartoon, and yet that happend. That must be episodes I missed in Danger Mouse. I knew that show came before Duckula, but not knowing they shared universe. Dang!

Nice video on the history of Count Duckula, my friend! My favorite part will be Duckula's ancestors and his relatives because I find them cool and very legendary. Especially his great grandfather too in Dear Diary.

The real question is this: Where is the full on dance mix of Duckula's theme, because that has to exist somewhere when you consider how much of a banger the opening and end themes are!

I think the one I remember the best is when Count Duckula is in his second episode when he's turning members of parliament into bad performers and Danger Mouse has to stop him. He captures Danger Mouse and Penfold and tortures them with his bad acts which was hilarious. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I'll let you figure that one out for yourselves..."

According to the Nick Knacks episode on this show... while Geraldine Laybourne did choose Duckula as the star of the next Cosgrove show... but she ended up not liking the finished product at all for some reason, and gave it very little promotion on the network. I remember it fondly... it was smarter than most cartoons at the time.. and since I was about 11... I appreciated the more sophisticated references and allusions to horror violence. When I was a younger kid Danger Mouse was a big deal on Nick as it was one of the tentpole shows of the network... the other being You Can't Do That on Television.. in the era where almost all their shows were imports or reruns.

Such a criminally underrated cartoon. For a time I used to think it was part of the Ducktales/Darkwing universe. What a crossover that would be.

Everyone's favourite Egotistical Vegetarian Showbiz-crazed Vampire Duck. Honestly, I've been watching a lot of both Danger Mouse, its reboot, and its spin-off Count Duckula recently, and Duckula himself is honestly my favourite character of the franchise.

Cartoon Short was inspired by Count Duckla. It is called Bluehilda. About a witch that came from long line of witch's called Boohilda which cause misfortune and chaos. Boohilda would be revived similarly as Duckula from a ancient ritual as with the key item a Boohilda wart. except the wart was confused with a Blueberry causing the birth of Bluehilda.

I watched this show as a small kid on Nickelodeon. I hated it at the time. Only watched because I was obsessed with cartoons and that happened to be the only animated show on. The humor was on the dry side -- it leaned heavily into puns/wordplay that went right over my head and often had little slapstick or action. I also found the opening and credits disturbing. I've watched episodes on KZbin as an adult (due to nostalgia) and still wouldn't say it's exactly a gem...but I've found new appreciation for it. The art is incredibly moody and atmospheric. Some of the wordplay is actually pretty clever. Also, the bits of continuity regarding Duckula's history and lineage are actually kind of intriguing -- it comes up in many of the episodes but never really becomes a plot arc itself as the stories were almost purely episodic. I'd definitely be interested in a revival of the series that went a little more darker and macabre than the original. Maybe something along the line of Gravity Falls. Still aimed at kids, but play up the mystery and weirdness.

You don't get the level of detail on backgrounds like you did in this show anymore. Every inch of that screen was covered in some tiny, clever detail.

I was in high school when Duckula was showing on Nickelodeon. I loved it and so did my younger cousin. I was able to do a good Nanny impersonation and would bust it out to drop a catchphrase now and then. My girlfriend was babysitting him one night and she told him she knew the phone number at the castle so she gave me a call and asked for Nanny, telling me there was a little boy who wanted to talk to her. I obliged and had a few minutes conversation with him about all things Duckula, Transylvania and things that happened on the show. He loved it and was very excited to tell me about it later on. From that day on I wouldn't do the impression of Nanny around him so as not to ruin the fun.

Worth mentioning is that, in the 90's, when Warner Brothers was creating their Looney Tunes spinoff series 'Tiny Toons', they drew heavily from Duckula to create Plucky Duck, their green-feathered supposed-protege of Daffy Duck.

Is the 1988 Duckula a reincarnation of Danger Mouse era Duckula who fell down the hole and presumably died? Or is it still the same Duckula?
@toonraider1237 ай бұрын
Asking the real questions 😅I believe the 1988 Duckula is the reincarnation of the Danger Mouse version, which would make him the 'father' of the 1988 Duckula 🤔It gets a bit confusing
