Hi, Raider! You certainly did your homework on this one! My Voice Acting Coach was a man named Daws Butler. You may have run across his name when finding cartoon information. Daws (who passed away in 1988), played literally THOUSANDS of cartoon voices, for MGM, Walter Lantz (Producer of Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willy and others), Jay Ward Productions (Producer of the original Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons… Daws played dozens of characters in Ward’s “Fractured Fairy Tales, as part of the Rocky & Bullwinkle show) and nearly ALL the voices at the start of Hanna-Barbera Productions, formed after MGM shut down their animation department. He brought Don Messick to the attention of Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera (together, Don and Daws were Pixie and Dixie, the “meeces” that Mr. Jinks the cat hated “to pieces!”). He also brought in Doug Young, voice of Doggie Daddy to Daws’ Augie Doggie. How did he get a name like Daws? His real name was Charles Dawson Butler, and took “Daws” from his middle name. He coached many present day Voice Actors, including the voice of Bart Simpson,

Thanks for the comment! Actually, I'm putting together a video showcasing various voice artists, which wouldn't be complete without Daws Butler and I had no idea about the origin of his name! Thanks for dropping, stay tooned!

Droopy is an enduring charater in animation history. The master of deadpan, amazing wit and ability to be at many places at once, and always seems to get the girl, whether real or animated. One of my all time favorite characters.

Wow - so much history - so many "spin-offs" of Droopy that I was unaware of. North-west Hounded Police is indeed a classic and is my all-time favourite. Thank you again for a meticulously-researched video. I'm now off to re-re-re-re-watch North-West Hounded Police. Thank you and please keep 'em comin'.

I always love Tex Avery cartoons so obviously Drooopy is one of my favorites, I'll love to had him back but a lot of the charm and fun of those old cartoons were the slaptick and over the top violence both of which are a no no in today's modern safe cartoons era, it just wouldn't be the same just like all those new Tom and Jerry shows they never quite capture that perfect balance of cartoon and hyper violence of the classic shorts, if they could bring back a legit old school Droopy cartoon them I'm all for it but I'll most likely won't happen.

Droopy was to appear in two more recent projects who’s fates are uncertain, shorts made by the Looney Tunes Cartoons crews, only some test footage has been released and Tooned Out in which he was to star along side Christopher Lloyd and other Warner Bros and MGM cartoon characters

To meet droopy has always been a Tom and Jerry character, and last thing I wanted was for him to be in their cartoons where he gets to choose which side he’s on whether he should teach this cat and mouse, some manners or lessons they should both learn.

I certainly learned something from this video, such as I got to track down about 19 shorts and watch them with Droopy as I have seen only one and that is the three little pups, a spin on the three little pigs, it has me laughing like anything, the wolf is rather chilled about his defeats!!

If all the characters who made their debut during the golden age of cartoons were part of a classroom, Droopy would be the shy and quiet emo-goth kid who doesn’t say or do much, but can and WILL beat you to a bloody pulp if you push him too far!

Do you have any plans for doing more history videos on the other cartoon characters, especially the Looney Tunes cast? Perhaps you can make a video on Bugs Bunny’s love life, from Mrs. Bugs Bunny from Hold the Lion, Please to Lola Bunny from Space Jam and the present? Whenever you have the opportunity to do so, of course.

If they ever do a reboot, they could do it in the style of the new Looney Tunes Cartoons from HBO Max. Perhaps a series of shorts with Tom & Jerry, Droopy and some other Tex Avery characters.
