My father left us three days ago and I’m in tears watching this. He was definitely not a gamer but I was (and am) a kid obsessed with Mario and Zelda on N64, so he knew everything about those games. This ending moved me since I’ve beat the game for the first time 20 years ago, but now it has an even stronger impact on me. I love how the music is almost melancholic and you get to see all the levels you’ve played before but without Mario. All those adventures, all those memories, all those stories... I’m alone in our house at the moment and Father can’t be seen, just like Mario, but I’ll always remember all the fun we had, the hardships and the laughter. “Thank you so much a-for-to playing my game”.

This has to be one of the best endings in any videogame. I'ts not epic or ad, it's really satisfactory to see how it all comes toghether. What makes this ending great are the credits, showing off the lands you've been with Mario, with very emotional music. It's been a long time since the last time I played Super Mario 64, but hearing the music just makes me want to cry in happiness.

The excitement and happyness of beating this game for the first is something I've never felt again in any other game. Sadly, this is when graphics didn't matter that much, but the story that was in the game, and even if this seems like a simple story, back then it was a journey between you and the main character, and when the game ended, not only you saved the princess, but you also said goodbye to your partner. The credits here deserve more praise. The music combined with the visuals is essentially the kind of clip show you would see in the final episode of some TV series you've been following from the beginning. Through the ups and the downs, you pushed through, helping Mario save Peach and experienced a grand adventure through many memorable locations with faces you'll never forget. It perfectly makes you emotionally attached to each level and the worlds you explored like, despite the crazy enemies and dangerous hazards, you feel a personal connection to it all. And at 4:30 when Mario and his friends are wishing you farewell, you're sad to see the adventure come to a close. Part of the journey is the end. But it's a journey that will stick with you til the end of time....thank you so much for playing your game? No. Thank you, Mario, for letting me experience it.

It’s Christmas of 1996, and you open up the brand new Nintendo 64 with a copy super Mario 64 from your parents. You plug in everything and begin playing for hours. After months of trial and error, you did it. You collected all the power stars, and finish the game, to see this absolute masterpiece of an ending.

thanks charles, for giving us all the voice we grew up on. whether it was the 90’s or the 2000’s, you were the voice of our italian plumber. and even though he’s stopped doing so, he will live on forever in our hearts. new or old, we can all agree. #thankyoucharles

3:34 this is the scene of the ending that gets to me the most is when it shows Tiny Huge Island. It uses that low tune part of the music as it begins showing the finish line then fades out with Koopa The Quick. You race to the end with him twice and he was like your best friend in Super Mario 64.
