In this video I show an alternative way to play half guard. The adjustement works really well against the knee slide pass. Who else is familiar with "The Rocking Chair"? Let me know what you think in the comments and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Also check out my blog at wimdeputter.com/blog!

Alexandre Vieira use that kind of half guard a lot! and Brian Peterson make weddig sweep video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpfNhXqXiKmgq6M ... first time I saw this technic in Robert Drysdale's halfguard instruction video

Lucas Leite call it “carry the baby” sweep. Probably the best sweep from dog fight when opponent’s base is wide and the far knee is too far to grab, and if the timing is correct it’s really effortless. Using tripod to make your opponent move exactly where it’s needed for a sweep is a brilliant sneaky setup 😊 Thanks from a fellow half-guard player. I get a feeling I’m going to enjoy this series even more then other on your channel 😉

The rocking baby sounds cool! 😎👶 looks a lot like dog fight at a certain point but the arm behind his leg is very nice. Will try that!

Thank Tum! It's a modified Dogfight indeed :) Felipe showed me this entry many years ago. He called it the 'Na na nene'. Like the lullaby you sing when rocking a baby :)

But why would you opponent go for a knee cut if you have underhook ? :/
@WimDeputterBJJ3 жыл бұрын
True. When I made this video, I glossed over that part cause I wanted to talk about the position itself. You can also establish the underhook first, get to dogfight and then establish this position.

@@WimDeputterBJJ It makes sense. Thank you very much.

@@WimDeputterBJJ I'm speaking out of habit. There's this very good brown belt at my gym who has a killer knee cut pass and I haven't figured out a way to stop him 100%. He still manages to pass my guard 4 or 5 times out of 10. That frustrates me a lot. Guess I have to work more :)

@@MCHiphopotamus Kneeslide is often hard to stop in gi. No gi is easier. If you film a round with him, I would be more than happy to have a look and give you some tips!

Coach Brian Peterson from teachmegrappling has a really good series on this move (he calls it the wedding sweep) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioPai32ahaeWnJI . He has quite a few cool set ups so I really recommend checking out his stuff! The move has become slightly more well known since Garry Tonon hit it recently in a competition. I actually really love this move, so thanks for making a video on it! Will be good to try out some of your details and add them to my system :).

Coach Brian has a lot of cool stuff! I follow him as well. If you like it, stay tuned. I'm going to have a five part mini-series on this one 😊
