CS:GO was created for console but it kept going. Minimal effort + betting. CS2 supposed to came in 2013. Gabe said "CS:GO isn't CS 2". This is CS:GO updated. The fact that they can't recreate M4A1-S with 30 bullets effectively like CS 1.6 is HILARIOUS. Graphics get better easily. This is a 1900 game compared to COD Graphics.

The thing that always impresses me about Valve is that their engines are just soooo good. Source 2 doesn't just look very good, it also runs amazing. Half-Life Alyx already demonstrated how highly optimized this engine is as it had to run at least at 90 fps and on 2 images. Raytracing also comes to S2. Makes me wonder how future Valve games look and run when the priority is not to make a competitive game that has to run at over 300 fps.

Yea i always say if not because of VR, maybe Half-Life Alyx will be even at least 50% more beautiful 😂. Because VR need renders everything twice for both lens, they tone down many aspects in term of graphics to make it runs great on VR yet Half-Life Alyx graphics still looks better than most games but also very well optimized.

Interactivity and a reactive world is what good games are all about! Its something Unreal is doing the exact opposite of - They push the graphical fidelity but at the cost of serious performance hits and a boring, lifeless, static world. Valve are master class developers.
10 ай бұрын
@@thepunisherxxx6804 I remember when Source was super popular, super easy for mods, you can even make movies with that engine lol. In past, Source engine was one of the greatest competitors of Unreal engine, even better than Unreal in some aspects. Sadly Valve abandoned their own engine for so long, while Unreal and Unity keep improving and moving forward. If not because of Steam, maybe Source will be the best modern engine along with Unity and Unreal. But i’m happy they are working on Source 2 now :3.
@thepunisherxxx6804
@thepunisherxxx6804 10 ай бұрын
@ Yup. Unreal focused their business model on selling the engine and getting revenue from it, Valve did not. I'm sure source would easily compare to UE5 if they chose to prioritize it as a product. Even with that said though Source still is a great engine compared to UE in its own right. Its physics, its performance, netcode, movement, responsive controls. All masterclass. Dark Messiah used it, TitanFall 2, and a few other 3rd parties. I really value a well running, responsive, good feeling game (responsive controls, good netcode) over graphics these days.

Best part about the water effects is that (besides the droplet particles) it's all flat. The geometry doesn't change, not even from the 3D ripples. It's all clever parallax effects. Even the caustics are just part of the surface texture. The parallax stuff is one of my favorite parts of the graphics in CS2. The water, bullet holes, even curtains in windows. All flat geometry using parallax to make it look 3D.

I really wish that Valve could update the first person animations in future builds. Stuff like the bobbing motion of the gun when you're walking around, reloading, and the firing animation should not look exactly the same as how they were in CSGO when this is supposed to be a brand new entry into the series. Now of course I'm not suggesting that Valve needs to join the "twitchy tacticool MW2019 reload animation" trend that every developer is sheepishly following because of course they are--Counter Strike isn't Call of Duty and shouldn't ever try to be anything like it irregardless of its popularity. It's just that....well....animation quality standards for first person shooters have gotten better over the years and Counter Strike has been kinda lagging behind in this specific department. It would be nice if Valve actually used their talented animators for their first person animations for once.

Source engine was one of the greatest competitors of Unreal engine in the past, even better than Unreal in many aspects. Sadly Valve abandoned their own engine for so long, while Unreal and Unity keep improving and moving forward. If not because of Steam, maybe Source will be the best modern engine along with Unity and Unreal. But i’m happy they are working on Source 2 now :3.

Those Companys have different Paradigmas in Handling their Engines. Unity and Unreal are pushing Features out fast but they are not really optimized. Unitys and Unreal Engines Startup Time for their Editors are horrendous. Look at the Source 2 Engines Hammer Editor for CS2. The Workshop Tools are very small (like 400mb) and are up instantly with all its Features. Which of them are easiest to use is another topic. Sry for bad english, hope u get what i wanted to say.

Man, I was really scared that they would destroy CS with this update because CS is such a balanced and tuned game, even with all the quirks, but it seems like they're improving it in every way without breaking stuff that works well. The new colors and illumination seem to make a huge difference and I can't wait to see what pro players will do with smokes and HEs now haha

They already destroyed CS with CSGO, 1.6 was much better. A good reason why people moved to CS:GO was because they were forced to. When CS:GO was release many people in my circle were still playing CS 1.6 until valve release the last 1.6 update which basically ruined the online gameplay experience on 1.6. The sound dynamics on CS:GO suck till date.

I was actually more annoyed by the brightness from watching CS2 videos but when I played it I hardly noticed it. But what I found really annoying in CS2 is the reduced weapon options. Basically if you want the m249 you have to give up a good weapon to use it so you never use it (and other guns that are rarely used). Takes so much away from the fun.
