Would there be issues with this happening except the ref gives the point to the opponent because it was an attack in preparation on your part? Is it a matter of reaction time or does right of way simply negate this and give you the touch anyways. The way I as a student, who has little reffing experience within my club, is to judge it as: attack from left arrives, right fencer was in preparation even with right of way.

If this question is regarding attack/counter attack, it can be read as attack in prep. should the advancing fencer just be moving forward but not effecting an attack (i.e. no lunge, no extension). If this question is regarding counter time (i.e. effecting a parry while initiating an attack), attack in prep. wouldn't be called provided the blade was found in time. If the opponent lands their touch before the counter time parry, it would be considered an attack as the fencer trying to take the blade is not attacking the target and not finding the blade in time.

What happens if the fencer bends over? Its hard to hit them
@osmfencing Жыл бұрын
A counter-attack is always meant to make the target more difficult to hit. However, one cannot fully bend over in fencing if their head does not remain upright as you are not permitted to expose the back of your head. A fencer who bends over while keeping their head upright may reduce their target area, but they expose their back as well as limit their own ability to move beyond that action.

with respect, you really need to think about a remote microphone

Indeed. The new facility plays havoc with the sound and one of the camera mics began to fail. Already looking into it for a set of videos for epee. Sadly, no time to re-shoot what's already been filmed over the holiday for foil... Apologies for the echo and sound issues.

Jeez man will you stop pointing blades at targets without masks on! That is dangerous. At least have your students wearing masks. I know you do it at the end but trips and misunderstandings can happen at any time.

@@osmfencing Yeah, speaking as a former coach, this makes me cringe also. I don't know how you run your club, but thrusting at someone who isn't masked is just a bad example to set for students, and would have been an extremely serious violation where I taught. If you're going to demonstrate without masks, (though I don't really see why you need to) please do it out of distance.

Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated. It has been discussed and the coaches agree. Despite choreographed activities, future videos will likely not include any examples within proximity where masks are not in use. Thanks again for your concern.
