Wow that's the best fake I've ever seen! That's super scary, I wonder how many folks have these in their safes and don't even know it. This is why you got to buy from reputable dealers and well known people only. Thanks for the great detailed video.

Yeah, I was unaware that "fakers" would actually use so much real gold in their fakes, it's kinda scary! Opened my eyes. Thanks, my friend

the ring is not 100% accurate but probably 99.9% accurate. I have seen Cracked Planchettes which have no ring but are real coins. The sigma pro is my favorite because it will test all the way through the coin and allow a density test as well 🔥🐉

this counterfeit coin should be considerably thicker than a 22 K gold coin with so much copper and Gallium, it should be 20-30% thicker than 22 K gold. A 1 oz gold eagle should be ~2.9 mm thick, the fake should be over 3.5 mm thick, or perhaps the diameter is a bit bigger than the specified, 32.7 mm or some combination of diameter and thickness. I have seen some KZbinrs hang a coin on a piece of dental floss and weigh the coin in a container of water, this measures specific gravity. this technique overcomes the inaccuracy of a cheap scale. this test can be done quite cheaply.

From what I saw, the Sigma actually pegged it as fake as the pointer went off the scale to the right which is indicative of a counterfeit. The XRF though, that is really shocking. Almost as if the XRF is just reading the surface whereas we know the Sigma sends an electromagnetic signal penetrating the surface. I'm real happy with the Sigma. How did that counterfeit add up with weight, diameter and thickness? Excellent video, liked and subbed.

What my question is, is with the tungsten fakes can they not plate them or does is have to be encased, as I know some materials don't plate well? Maybe if it was copper they could plate it properly without putting a shell on? Maybe that's the big give away is that the tungsten ones that weigh the same will always have a gap on the edge as they can't be plated and get the same weight? Also I have seen the sigma be fooled if the outside shell is really thick and you don't get the nozzle attachment out and move it over the whole coin.

@ptaeiy no thats what a 22k eagle weights as they put 1 oz of 24k gold in a eagle
@BoxStudioExecutive6 ай бұрын
@@onlyme9262 One can plate tungsten. Electroless nickel strike plating on the tungsten followed by gold plating. But apparently this process is not that easy (or cheap) to do. The other thing is gold electroplating produces a maximum thickness of like 0.025mm. The thickness of the foil in this fake is about 0.14mm by my calculations. It could be plating with gold doesn't produce a thick enough coating and gets scratched too easily, which readily reveals the fake grey interior? With copper the color difference is harder to tell, but the dimensions of a copper-plated gold would be totally wrong

@@BoxStudioExecutive If they plate the tungsten core.. then the plating will be 24k, and have a different color than 22k gold.

Ring test is my favorite in a pinch test. That is also reason I only get coins or rounds. faking the sound and weight and dimensions of a coin would be near impossible. If they could, it would nearly cost as much as a real coin.

I was scammed by these cpoins 4 yrs ago, i bought 3 pcs (3 Troy Ounce), tested them with my XRF and was absolutely sure it's the real deal. Buy looks and feeling it was also like a real for sure. i was completely shocked when realizing it was tuinsten inside. These are extremely well done. We obviously had the same coins because my were also 4.81 grams real gold wrapping. BTW tungsten is te only metal almost exactly same as gold density. The coibns I had didn't have any rim visible with 10x magnifictation
