Flares are good for aircraft that can outrun homing rockets coming their way, since they can do evasive maneuvers will reloading flares, or just evade them constantly. Chaff is good for aircraft that CAN'T do evasive maneuvers, and chaff can save you from heat seeker spam like an Opresor attacking you while you're in your Havok, or pretty soon the Hunter.

to be honest. flairs are pretty useless since they can only take one missile out per flair deployment. it's almost always better to use chaff simply because you can just enable chaff before entering lock on distance of your target. allowing you to lock on, or for both of you to freeaim it i can't even think of a vehicle that would be better to use flairs. they just aren't effective at all when 80% of the vehicles can spam rockets faster then you can deploy flairs. all a flair is gonna do is stop "johnny mc homing launcher" from pulling a quick one on your heli.

@@rustedyoda7339 Weaponized vehicles are too powerful, because Rockstar decided vehicles don't need a delay when locking onto targets. Flairs should've been able to attract multiple rockets, and Chaff should instantly disable lock on. Having so many weaponized vehicles and easy access to them ruined the GTA Online experience permanently. The game was plenty of fun before the oppressor and the bunker update was released. After that point, the game progressively became less enjoyable.

Something you forgot, is that Flares are *supposed* to redirect missiles, not destroy them. This is what happens when you fire a Flare Gun on foot to lock on missiles, and, amusingly, this can sometimes happen to your own missiles that you fire as well.

They *do* redirect missiles! The missile locks onto a flare instead of the plane and then when it hits the flare it does what missiles do... boom! Unless you mean flares should work from any distance after the missile has been fired...

Chaff is amazing for quick attack plays, if you can deploy them and then charge at an unsuspecting target, you can immediately destroy them as they are defenceless

You need to disable the smoke once the rocket is coming at you. The smoke is an ECM jammer which is used in burst irl to detour the missile. Activate the smoke when locked onto, disable when rocket is coming

For anybody that is unsure about real life, flares stop heat seaking missles by creating a seperate heat source and chaff blocks out radar (through magic :D)

Each one is better for each use. For example, if you wish to use your aircraft for dogfights, use flares. If you want to use it for bombing runs, or against mk2s, you should use chaffs. Just some examples.

Smooth handling = good for casual flight and bombing runs, little to no turbulence. Race handling = Too twitchy, can be good for dogfights, too much turbulence, I just avoid it. Sport handling = sits in between both.

I recommend ussing chaff before you hear the beaping sound of being locked on, you cant know exactly when it sounds so you need to calculate when is going to lock on you so you can do it before, that way no missiles can take you

Honestly, I have Chaff on the Mk2. I don't use it to grief and it's only for self-defense and missions. Chaff can disable lock on for 6 seconds so I can charge at another mk2 or helicopter without being able to be locked-on. Most players rely on lock-on to kill (most mk2 users), so without it, they're dead.

Just an fyi-the flares from the flare gun can also divert missiles. I've had altruists shoot flares at me during resupply runs and my missiles followed said flares and came right back at me. So in theory a few friends sitting in the back of a helicopter/vehicle can be a valid countermeasure.

I think that all aircraft that don't have access to weaponry should have access to countermeasures, specifically unlimited flares or a chaff dispensing system that doesn't allow anyone or anything with homing missile to lock onto you so if people wanna shoot you down they can use an RPG or explosive sniper. It's too easy to lock onto a slow non combat aircraft with the homing launcher and makes them completely useless and a liability to die outside of a private session

I use flares on my Rogue. You get more of them and imo more effective since they can get a flying missle off your back whereas chaff cant. Tho in real life both are effective at getting missles off your tail depending on the missile type. Radar guided=chaff Heat seeker=flares

Aircraft: Flares ( Multiple Aircrafts are fast enough to outrun missles but sometimes needs to lose a few, if you have chaff you won’t be able to be locked on to but will be able to be shot down with any canon that the enemy aircraft has.) If you have an Oppressor MK2 I would definitely recommend chaff, flares can take out one or two missles but cannot outrun the missles, if you had chaff on, other Oppressor MK2 Enemies won’t be able to shoot you since they are only equipped with rockets, same with aircrafts, you cannot outrun them so having chaff would force them to either move and reposition their aircraft for another launch or, ( very very unlikely ) to try to shoot you off of your oppressor with their cannon! I like Chaff better because when you hear the lock sound you use it and the lock will disable for 6 seconds, that's enough time to turn around and lock on the enemy and shoot.

Using the smoke in dogfights can be a disadvantage because it will lead a trail to where you are if your opponent can't see you on their camera. It's great for air shows tho

I don't get it, why is the havok bad? I use the buzzard only to get to places quick and I can use it via my ceo. If you are stealing cars you almost never use the buzzards weapons anyway so why not buy a quicker heli like the havok? I mean it is the fastest heli in the game and you can use it via the ceo menu.

Chaff is better. Seeing as most people spam the missiles, being able to completely stop lock-on is better. No matter how many times you spam the flares, you wont be able to disable all missiles.

you can actually use the flare gun in your weapon wheel to counter missiles. I saw someone do it on another video, him and his brother were on a mini scooter and some guy tried blowing them up on an oppressor MK2 and the guy on the back of the scooter kept shooting his flare gun in the air and it redirected the missile like a normal countermeasure

Oppressor mixed with sniper rounds are the deadliest combo in the game. Fly up to a roof, hop off, and take out a dumbass hydra with explosive rounds. Lol hydra users swear they're invincible

Smoke can be fun to use and maybe even usefull against newbies here is why: if its independence day in america you can have 3 planes with the colors blue,white and red and if you are under attack by a new player and hit you a few times you use the black smoke so he is thinking you are going down but if you are new in gta online and sea this comment do not fall for that trick

The smoke works if a player locks on using the homing launcher but doesn't work against aircraft homing missiles. I dogged 3 missiles before I was out of sight of a player in my ultralight

Get chaff if you care, get flares if you dont, chaff stops more missiles than flares and theres a glitch where you see the missile go to the flare and beeping stops but you still get hit, so chaff is way more consistent

Chaff seems to be better for air to ground strafing runs as you can pop the chaff making you immune to homing launchers as you plummet towards the ground. Flares seem better for dogfights as you can hold more of them and you only have to use them once the missile is fired.

I once was cruising in my Raiden when an Oppressor MKii griefer shot a rocket at me. I was prepared with flares and shot one toward him at the last second and the missile tracked back and hit him. Good times.

I bought all the aircraft and the best one is the 'Rogue' because it has an explosive mg, rockets, bombs and countermeasures attachments

Dan Fox True but I like the others for their cool gimmicks such as their unique features although I still feel the hydra is the best aircraft. The only airplane I didn't buy was the v65-molotov as it is worse than the rogue yet is way more expensive.

the 'Molotok' has a great acceleration than the hydra but it doesn't have any bombs and explosive mg

I use chaffs because it makes the oppressor mk2 two useless. I deploy them right when they get into range before they can see so they will think I'm a free kill then when they realize they have no lock they will either realize they are fucked are travel in closer thinking they are just out of reach to lock on. It works every time

I believe chaff is more for air to ground and flares are effective for dogfights
