People keep clowning on Countess like at one time she didn't sound WAY better than all of their faves at one point, especially if your fave is from the 2000+ period. Industry politics is why she didn't recieve the backing from her label.Which in turn made her flop. She was boxed into her acting career. Till this day, I still believe her biggest mistake was doing 227 and not concentrating on music. Countess's calling was music and she took the wrong turn. Thyroid's has all but stripped her vocals completely today and it's so sad. Imagine the one thing you always knew you could fall back on,not being there when you really needed it to be. It has to be devastating.

Countess said that once she had her children she didn’t want to do music because it would take her away from home too much. And even with the thyroid issue, her singing voice was not affected nearly as much as her speaking voice. She said that in an interview also.
@slimtee2
@slimtee2 4 жыл бұрын
She only did a few episodes on 227 and she was like ten years old so I don't understand how that could've affected her music career. And she was like 13 or 14 when she recorded her first album, so I'm not sure how her music career was actually ruined. She showed her singing ability and talent on Moesha and The Parkers. And she went on to record a couple of albums from what I understand. However, I could be wrong.

@reek.8505
@reek.8505 4 жыл бұрын
@@slimtee2 She only recorded one album, her first one and this song was the lead single from it. But 227 most definitely was a mistake (for her music career) because nobody was taking her seriously as a singer. As said before, she really did get boxed into acting and doing comedy shows (227, Hanging w Mr. Cooper, Moesha, The Parkers, etc.) and she started becoming typecasted. This means that you become casted by TV shows and movies playing the same kinda character because that's what you're already known for. And this is both a good and bad thing because while Countess still had a great career and is making residual money off those shows to this day, it kinda stifled any other venture she would've wanted to do.

The thing is that with Do you love him song is that it was horribly mixed. You can tell she still got some of her voice, but overall bad mixing and production and musical direction as well for that song. THis song however is amazing. Truly.

I totally agree! It's as if they just had her come in the studio, sing, throw a track in the background and put it out, smh. Very terribly mixed. All the magic that they do for these non-singing artist, they couldn't do any for her? Smh. Shame on them.

back in that era music execs were wild. This girl was probably like 14 years ago singing about this extra mature mess but yes Countess sounded incredible. Had it not been for her condition, she would've blown up on the music scene. Even her singing on Freestyle Unity was legit on The Parkers.
