I'm counting twice as many beats because I'm counting the tis-tis-tis-tis instead. How do you determine WHICH instrument hit is the beat tho? Or what am *I* counting?

Wait for the main beat of the song or try to identify the kicks or down beats of the song. For example when the drop hits, it's that first big beat you should count and the subsequent beats after that, you definitely do not have to count all the little beats. Most songs will have 4 beats per bar, it's those beats you need to count.

@missiondj6070 that's still a problem for me, since I still can't tell, often, when the... fraction section? Restarts. Not very versed in this, but like before repeating, 4/4 is like... 4 (main) notes per section, and 3/4 is 3 notes per section... so I count those 4 or those 3. I'm guessing those are NOT what I count for a beat?
