Pokémon GO players eventually reach a point where very little in the game will be new and exciting. This point is what I call the end game. Once you reach it, there are plenty of things you should do. Let's talk about it!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

What I consider the game to be endgame is completing the entire Pokédex all categories of it, hit the highest rank in PVP, get all platinum medals, be at level 50, having maxed out pokemon etc.

The Endgame of this game is PvP or Raids. I just go for Pokemon hunt to get better mons for PvP, which is an insane endless grind. Problem with most players is they hate PvP, so they have nothing to grind Pokemons for except of shiny or 20 times the same Legendary. So my goals are hitting Legend and completing my Gen 1 Shiny dex. I play since the first week of release and all I can say is, take breaks. If the game is boring to you, take a break. It's just a fking game.

Truth. For most players I know who have been playing since day 1, these are the two areas they end up focusing on. They either go full PVP, or full Raids.

Emotion free, logical, presented with information that helps to understand. This is a quality comment. Myself, I don't even tank PVP, I purposefully lose ALL battles rank 1-4, win all 5 rank5 battles, lose as many as possible from rank 6 to 14, win all of rank 15, lose as many as possible to rank 19, win all 5 of those and get to rank 20. The last 3 seasons, I've been rank 20 at 2 weeks in, with a battle rank of 400ish, and that allows me to win any games I want for the rest of the season, until I get to the last 2 weeks where I put in actual effort, because all the people who didn't grind in the beginning of the season are tanking to rank 20 😂

Been playing since July 2016, I catch stuff and do the level grind, the days of me jumping off the sofa at 10pm, sprinting through town to catch an aerodactyl (Id been chasing it for a year) are over. 😂

The real endgame, is transferring rare pokemom to pokemon home. Especially the shiny event locked mons that are legally impossible to get in the mainline games. The ultimate goal, building up your pokemon home to preserve your catalogue indefinitely.

If you're not abusing pokemon home to transfer extremely rare pokemon that are more readily attainable in pokemon go, you're using this spinoff game wrong and totally ignoring its primary benefits.

I’m definitely not as excited or motivated as in the past. I used to get SO angry when ComDays on Saturday had great monsters and the ones on Sundays were trash (I worked Saturdays and was off Sundays), but now I honestly don’t care. I can take the days of with my new job, but I choose to work, for the most part. That’s but one example.

In my opinion, The endgame of this game is completing the Pokedex (Pokemons, Shinies, Luckies, Megas, etc.) and being able to Solo Raids especially Legendaries (Shadow Raids are an exception since it can't be soloed). This is what I would call an endgame.💯

I’ve found that the more Tours and Fests I go to in person, the fewer Pokémon that are involved interest me. I’ve already got the shiny versions of them and I’m one that doesn’t grind for pvp. I now just pace myself with the game and if there are events that wouldn’t help me with my goals in the game, I just don’t play that event.

I semi-agree. Like for this year's GO Fest, I only cared about getting Necrozma and the Fusions. The rest was filler.

Thank you for bringing this to light. I may not be at the "endgame" but I am definitely late game. Level 46, Gen 1-5 pokedex complete for what's released, and Gen's 6-9 aren't full released yet. I do continually find that I don't have a ton of candy for specific pokemon so I am still grinding so that I can build it up. I need 3 pokemon to have a complete shiny kanto dex. and less than 9 for Johto. All I see online however are people complaining because NOTHING excites them any more. New shiny for a comm day, eh its not their favorite so they call the announced event trash. There is just a ton of complaining and doom predictions because they as an individual are late or end game because they have been playing forever. There are new players all the time who need fun experiences and I only hope they aren't online seeing all the doom and complaining about events because some experienced players don't need or want it.

And once you are at that stage, that's where I think that a shop of special research that would unlock rare items/encounter/... would really be a way for Niantic to make money. I don't think it would be a problem to give access to those rare research if they are behind a paywall and complex tasks to achieve. With the way pokemon spawns, if you have to wait a year or more because it is not part of the actual spawns/research/... it is kinda frustrating. (Same for regional ones if you don't have time and money to travel a lot) Reaching lucky friends propose you to use lucky egg, I'd love to be proposed to use a star piece when multiple eggs are hatching all together.

Imagine they added some actual endgame content... like if you reach certain goals you can get different timed researches every week for them... kind of like mmo's do with daily tasks.. they could use these to distribute new items like bottlecaps, vitamins, apricorn balls etc.

They should have a strong Pokemon that you receive at level 50. And no one else can get until they reach level 50. That’s a FLEX!!!! Right now, there is no Pokemon that can be flexed because anyone can catch all Pokemon available even if you haven’t achieved anything.

Armored Mew Two is definitely one to flex. He’s not available for anybody. The only way you have him is from when he debut, but other than that, he’s a flex for sure. Same with raquazza. Shiny mega raquazza. Not easy to get at all. The meteorites and everything? Na

@@The_Cherokee_Gypsy I guess i look at flexing differently. To me, something that will destroy any Pokemon you have in your account is a flex. Not just a Pokemon that is rare or a different color. Rayquaza was available to all. What Pokemon is there that only the best trainers have? There’s none. Someone can be level 28 and only play once a month and can get a shiny Rayquaza. With no effort. I think flexing should be based on competition and skill. Not just luck.

For me I’m currently reaching my end game lvl 50 ..over 100 level50 mons and 100m+ dust ….this is my first season in my 7 years of grinding doing pvp 😅 pvp is the end game been trying to avoid it for so long

I grew up watching kanto and grew out of pokemon after the first movie so my endgame is to complete the kanto shiny dex which all I need is Tauros and kanto Farfetched so if there's a special event for those that would be it for me, I like shiny hunting but I only focus on them during a research, raid or com days where there rate is higher as to weekly events far too much time consuming

It is a sandbox game. You create your own fun. Yes, the game is lacking content, but considering where it is now from launch, there are plenty of ways to keep yourself engaged with the game.

Pokemon Unite has such playability simply because I can unlock backgrounds and like stickers for reaching master rank. If PvP had a Legends Medal you could wear or a sticker that showed the year and it was for the ranks you achieved or the pokemon catching medals or something, I would be more interested than simply trying to get a Libre Pikachu. Lol after I get that idk if I will play PvP again (religiously because the stardust is worth it). Maybe best buddy background for your character screen that was a custom background for that pokemon. Idk. That would be cool.
