I see many people commenting about the Insomnium similarity here. Firstly, I am so happy that there are other people in the world that enjoy this music too :D. But also I want to state the point that we basically need to accept that Insomnium is not just a band, they are a school of MDM and its great to see bands following their steps I agree with all people here and just wanted to share this :).

I love Be'Lakor,... and you guys manage to use their inspiration, mix it with a bit of insomnium, maybe even a bit DT .. and make your own awesome craftwork. Parts of this album, especially Solace, ethereal and return really blew my mind. In parts, the pace is very slow.. but hey, I have loads of faster tracks in my playlist, and since the play at random, having these intense, slower tracks inbetween really just adds to the expeience^^ Thank you for some awesome music!

I can definitely hear some Insomnium influences, which is not exactly a bad thing! Good job guys.
@jesse95388 жыл бұрын
I'd say these guys are right up there at Insomnium's level. The vocals aren't quite what Niilo's are, but it is still amazing. Right up there with them.
@qwerty1234123410008 жыл бұрын
Unlike Insomnium, they can pull off the clean vocals. While I'm not a fan of clean vocals in metal generally, I find the Insomnium ones make me cringe. Michael Stanne from DT got the pipes, Insomnium doesn't - and knowing what you have (and haven't) and working within those confines are important.
@livingaftermidnight8 жыл бұрын
I fully disagree. Insomnium's cleans are great, IMO.
@thepunisher2361698 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. Insomnium is classic, but these guys kick ass. I love them.
@volimNestea7 жыл бұрын
Well I don't think Insomnium cleans are neither good nor bad, they're just there and I don't mind them. Stanne is good but has a small vocal range which takes away from having much diversity in his singing. This dude just crushes them both though. Seriously, these are some of the best cleans I've heard in melodeath.

6) Waves crash against the strand Her faint voice calls From beneath the depths below Far in to the distance Lights beam out across The vast abyss Lost I fear that I will never find the strength again I feel that I have suffered far too long, I’ve given all I can I was told that there was something more But now I'm filled with doubt, drifting from the shore Cold and still I gaze Up far above Where all I know is gone Senses fade as time stops I give up I Can’t hold on forever Spiralling, dragging deeper down Into the undertow Crushed by its cold embrace In numbing silence, I drift away Tenacious and Majestic Infinite and Absolute Enduring and Composing Constant and Unrelenting Stubborn and Obstinate Beckoning and Beguiling As the storm subsides I feel the sun It seems so far away I strain to stay awake As consciousness Fades I know my time has come

4)Solace - Still is the day that marries the shade As eternal night descends Long is the eve that holds no reprieve From a torment without end Beneath a starlit sky, a faint and doleful sigh No wind to carry it beyond this empty realm The light was all but gone when sang this mournful song But not a soul in sight could hear this verse of overwhelming grief Still is the night that holds no respite As the hours turn to years Long is the day undying and grey Where the sun has disappeared "In each of these eyes Lay the answer But time left them blind So now I wander" In the absence of light Where time has lost its place A labyrinth of broken dreams A token of her grace As the fallen leaves Return to paint the path Her final resting place Will shimmer with the stars

2) Heroes- "There were no more wise men; there were no more heroes..." F. Scott Fitzgerald A world familiar in stranger light A rift in sterile order and chaos of the night There are no heroes, there are no wise men We live alone, beware the heinous Afeard, tyrannised Speak not in chorus But tonight we lead the race Come the reason On blinded eyes Call on thunder Release the rain If we should fall We fall for a higher cause One life means nothing In the chaos of the storm from which we're born The sky will fall for all The rain came crashing down on us No pain, no fear. Behold the martyr And between heroes we die alone We live in rage, believe the fearless A veil of false command Propelled by memory We join to fill the night For all of us Our wake will see The shores of Eden In its time Some will fall, some will die So more the calling to fight We feed the fire, we light the flame And between heroes we die as one

Well, I saw some comments about influences, and firstly, when you listen several bands and they all play MDM, you might find some similarities, secondly, influence at this stage is not bad, I guess it is helpful and provides some "guidance", and third, the influence is not overwhelming and I can very well "hear" the band itself. Anyway, great album, looking forward to next one.
@davecrupel28177 жыл бұрын
oh there is HUGE influence in this album. But it is in no way a bad thing. At least not with this band. This is influence done right :D
@soullessSiIence5 жыл бұрын
When a band sounds exactly like other one (Insomnium) it really subtracts a lot of merit for the artists. Sounds literally like an Insomnium tribute band. Not original at all
@redduskironsky10583 жыл бұрын
@@soullessSiIence this can be said strongly about way too many good bands out there then...mainly, "tribute" to Dark Tranquility and the likes of them. When a band sets a record, many many of the upcoming will have a really similar sound to the first bands that exploded in said genre (Insomnium and Be'lakor may have not been the first, but the most well known through this decade), and so then...what's there to do? You either spend years and years trying not to sound anything like someone else, or simply go with the flow and get appreciated by the crowd or torn apart. They may sound very similar, but I can definitely hear different things that set them apart, for example, the most obvious one is the clean vocal use. Now, let me take an actual band that flew way too close to the sun and tried to emulate the sun's brightness. A great example of "inspiration" done wrong, borderline cashing into the success of the sound of a band, is Atavistia, or...Canadian Wintersun. While some people, including myself, can appreciate that the sound, while excessively inspired, sounds good, nobody can deny that unlike Countless Skies, Insomnium and Be'lakor, Atavistia makes little to no effort in mimicking Wintersun, reason why too many people have mixed feelings of whether to like them or not, and some take them in just cause Wintersun has been on dead mode.
