Malheureusement, je ne connais pas assez le français pour comprendre le sens des chansons, mais j'ai récemment regardé des documentaires sur la grande révolution bourgeoise Française sur Napoléon Bonaparte et j'ai l'impression que les chansons sont à ce sujet! Se trata como la región de La Vedeé se enfrentó en los jacobinos el ala mas dura y extrema de la Revolución Francesa. El ejercito Jacobino quiso castigar a La Vendeé mandado un gran ejercito. " Aunque los habitantes de la región fueron muy valientes y decididos la cosa se puso horrible. Ya que el general revolucionario Louis Turreau se le ocurrió formar operativos llamados " Columnas infernales", que consistía en devastar cualquier población civil que vieran a su paso. En fin cometieron actos tan atroces que sigue siendo un tema muy delicado.

The folk instruments are so well incorporated into the music, unlike a lot of folk metal bands in recent times. This music has a transcendental quality to it. In short it's a classic. I will be listening to this album in the months and years to come. Well, if death has not other plans for me that is!

damn it, that's wonderful. each track is filled with melodies, the structure of the tracks and the album as a whole is well thought out. Elements of clean vocals and folk instruments make the album full. Best work this year! ringtones 10/10 reefs 10/10 mixing 10/10 atmosphere 10/10

Had never heard of this group at all. Went into my first listen with an open mind but was very pleasantly surprised that this is a COMPLETE album. From start to end it flows very well. Contains lots of folk elements that feel historical and leads me to believe it is about a battle or period in history (I have no clue what language they're speaking so I can't confirm that). Musically it feels very full. They are very patient with their progressions as if they have really found their voice as artists. Not a single track feels forced. It's super dynamic! Very calming and reassuring in some parts and aggressive in others. There are a lot of catchy melodies all throughout and not a single area of the album drops off for me. It's interesting the whole way through, which, is rare. A top album of the year for me

The album artwork reminds me of a painting of a Breton sentinel guarding a Chruch during the French Revolution. The Sacred Heart of Jesus patch on the jacket reinforces that. Very pleasant surprise to see

I'm also surprised to see a war scythe. The person responsible for the artwork did some research, since, at least to the best of my knowledge, that's a pretty obscure weapon.

The sacred heart is the symbol of the french region "Vendée" and the artwork (and the band itself) is a reference to the "Guerre de Vendée" and "Chouanneries" (aka the "Guerres de l'Ouest") which took place during the french revolution and where some people from Vendée and around rose against the french republic to reinstore royalty

@@Redhairedviking09 actually war scythe for French Revolution breton insurrection is pretty known in France at least. Peasants would just bend a scythe and make it some kind of sabre to the top of a handle. It also became a symbol of this uprising, as the Revolution Army bourgeois officers would mock them peasants with their scythes, so they revendicated this humble origin weapon. it is not rare that you find in old farms some very weary scythe iron, torn multiple times at the base, which is an obvious sign of wartime use and being back to the crops for autumn.

i doubt it is really about pro-catholicism. Vendé-ism now is more about regionalism and quasi-nationalism. It is like the Chouan memory that reinforce the breton nationalism. Furthermore, seems like the guy behind the concept is very fond of history, on the objective side of it and he tries to tell/describe the reality of the Vendéens more than promote it.
