Country caravans as tiny, Bohemian shelters in rural France

Country caravans, or according to those at Roulotte de Campagne, "Bohemian-style caravans" are back in style. "There's a fresh craze for these quaint mobile homes," declare the designers.
Roulotte de Campagne has redesigned the circus caravan, country caravan or so-called gypsy caravan as a high-comfort way for city-dwellers to get away from it all and tap into their Bohemian spirit. "'Roulotte' gypsy caravans," they say, "epitomize freedom and the great outdoors".
They can be rented in 80 locations across France for about 70 to 95 euros per night or bought for 33,900 euros (this includes help marketing them as a B&B).
Caroline of Hôtel Chai de la Paleine added one to the grounds of her home/chateau/hotel in the medieval village of Puy-Notre-Dame (in the Loire-Anjou-Touraine regional park). She rents it by the night alongside her 3 Carré d'étoile cube shelters made by the same designers (who also created the tiny pod dwellings, Le Pod).

We saw a home-made version of the above, three months ago at the Biosalon in Guichen (near Rennes). The chassis had been purchased and then the vardo, made from pine, had been constructed on top. I think it could be a great solution if you are going to self-build in a field, as we are, to construct one of these before moving, that way you solve all your removal problems in one fell swoop.

Very cute! Our country properties and lands are up for sale now in Brittany, France. One of the orchards is zoned for construction, even. We arranged for that. A tiny or temporary structure could be set there, or a tent. There's even a free local water source but since the century-old pipes are in lead, I would not drink it. It's very useful, however. Uprated.

This is the best designed small home I have ever seen. I am truly impressed. What I was wondering about were the dimensions. She said 161 square feet, but how does that work out in the actual dimensions. Is it 10 or 13 feet wide? Also, do the stairs close up for when you move the caravan, or are they meant to stay in place all the time. Also, was that a Queen size bed? Also, somebody mentioned in one of the comments about the tires going flat after awhile.

I'd be pretty impressed if it was truly mobile, like one of the tiny homes. I wonder how hard it is to un plumb it, and if it can be hauled by car? It's not Modern Camping, It's Camping in the grand old style. And it's still very nice.

however sometimes it is more convenient to have even a tiny bathroom in one's place. this way during inclement weather. one does not risk one's life getting to the outhouse or what other building the toilet is in. nor do they risk their kid(s)' life if they have offspring in the same home by having a toilet in the building. but it is up to the individual on how they live. but all angles need to be taken into value for things.

plus gypsies/travelers tend not to have toilets in their caravans. don't know about tubs. but they have a culture thing against the toilets being in a domicile. be it movable or not.

The major selling point of tiny houses is location. Stack them up in RV parks and the appeal disappears. Mine is in a five acre pinyon-juniper food forest. Location location location.

We find that having a toilet in a caravan is un hygenic, would you like to be watching tv or cooking and someone is in a cupboards in doing there buisness and the smell filling your home, that is why we do not use toilets in small caravans.
