I used to have this. RIP Commander Cody 09/30/21. I was not a country music fan, but totally loved Texas Swing, Boogie and Rock combined because of Commander Cody, even though he started his band in Ann Arbor MI at U of M, my home state. I learend to play Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar on piano and drive my friends crazy because of this band. George Frayne [the "Commenader] should have at least gotten some kind of Country Music Award, if not Rock and Roll, a long damn time ago, for introducing a whole young generation to this kind of music. First time I ever saw "country Band" that didn't have crew cuts, probably why some in the country music sector ignored the "dirty hippies" playing their kind of music. lol. Today's country music sucks compared to this. Every musician is this band was out of this world. Well, they were the Lost Planet Airmen...what a great name for a band.

This classic LPA line-up with Billy C Farlow on vocals has to be one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. Sadly, I never saw them live but I caught a later incarnation of the group featuring Austin De Lone back in the mid-1980s. I'd forgotten how great this album was. Thanks for reminding me.

Saw CC&LPA many times in Austin at the legendary ‘Dillo, including the live multi night recording session in November 1973. The weed smoke was so thick you cut cut it with a knife. A few years back I was negotiating with George to use some of the songs for an indie horror movie I was planning to produce and direct here in Austin.

BTW, my choice for the small town sheriff was none other than Clancy Brown (“Highlander”, “Legend of Buster Scruggs”, voice of Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob…”, among others.) A old skool hot rod drag race scene was to be filmed using “Hot Rod Lincoln” as accompanying music. There was a scene set in a South Austin honky tonk “Giddyups@ featuring a band in the background playing various CC&LPA tunes. Bill Kirchen and his guys were my choice as a featured music guests.

Had to put this on after having the misfortune to hear Taylor Swift on the radio. They mentioned that she was a country artist. Really? Sorry dear but THIS is country music. CC is one of the greatest bands of all time. Saw them several times in London in the early 70s. Unforgettable. Still got all the albums on vinyl. Off to get lost in the ozone. Again.
