I just watched this for the first time and for some strange reason after maybe 10 seconds into it I didnt see John Schneider sitting on the porch singing this. I saw Bo Duke. And then when the General showed up I was like holy crap ! Poor old Bo’s the only one left around Hazzard ! It was sad !! Great piece of work John,,but sad.

For me, I hear this song from a different perspective. I left my small home town one month after graduating high school. Now I am stuck living in suburbia commuting in traffic for an hour and a half a day. I want to go home and live a simpler life in my small hometown in the mountains but I can't get outa this town. Love this song.

You made me cry cause I lost my dad,brother,sister,and my mom,she was my world,and yes I never get out this town,I watched the dukes and and few years ago I help vote to get the dukes back on air,than they took the show off again,that old flag,why people fuss about it,their was are fathers,mothers,daughters,sons,brothers,sisters,someone's child was in war as same as everyone's was and still are,bible tell our,love thy brother as thy self,but we all forget that wont we,and John take that suit off than you be right at home,in that video. I have 70 chevelle up on blocks. I have a porch facing a river. I haven't moved since 1979. I bought the family home in 1991. Driven semi 🚛 for 22yrs & looks like I'm not moving either. Train don't come thru here they ripped up the tracks in the 80s but they still own the land. This reminded me of my small town.

Reminds me of growing up in Louisiana. I use to walk along the train tracks as a kid there even of a trestle. Then the railroad went away. I was truly free back then. Kids are no longer free. Kids are left in the house like a dog kennel. I wonder how this will effect people growing up now.
