American Idol and The Voice are known for eliminating and outright rejecting artists that have an insane amount of talent. Many artists in Country music have unfortunately felt the effects from the way American Idol and The Voice handle their competitions. And with the world falling apart why can’t we all just get along without criticizing. Josh Gracin came in 4th or 5th on American Idol. Kacey Musgraves got eliminated early on Nashville Stars. Colbie Caillet got overlooked by American Idol. BeBe Rexha was rejected from American Idol. Tori Kelly was also rejected from American Idol. Miranda Lambert came in 3rd behind Buddy Jewell on Nashville Star.

Corey Kent was on The Voice on Blake’s team but I don’t remember the year. He was known as Corey Kent White then. I think he came in at the top 10 but disappeared after that and recently surfaced with his single Wild As Her. I’ve never heard him mention The Voice and they never mention him which is strange but I’ve asked several people with knowledge of country music if he was on The Voice and they all said yes.

2/8/23 Even winners on American Idol don’t ever move on to become anything. Sometimes people get cut so they’re not committed to Idol, but great talent is missed. Some people and sound they’re just not ready for. Personally I think show is fixed!!

I loved Chevel Shepherd who won the Voice but where is she today? I know she had a you tube channel for a while. I think maybe it has to do with if a person won't compromise their standards the big wigs wont let them go far afterwards so winning doesn't really matter. I am happy for these super talented people to keep their integrity and their souls.

Obviously, these entertainers aren’t the average contestants but just think where they’d be had they not tried, got cut, got angry, knew they were great, worked harder than so many who won, and we’re lucky to be blessed with them!! Unfortunately in my opinion, I feel as the years have gone by, the winners are given so many opportunities that they’re overwhelmed and don’t necessarily understand what it means to have to create their own destiny!!

my other thought is this. it doesn't matter what number you place on these shows as it's all about talent. on the 1st season of nashville star a guy named Buddy Jewel took 1st place. you don't even here from him but the 3rd place runner up Miranda Lambert well she is all over country music as a solo act and plus her band Pistol Annies.

The funniest thing to me with any of these singing competitions is that Jason Isbell was asked to audition for The Voice in 2014, a year after his album 'Southeastern' was released and 13 years since his career began in the Drive By Truckers in 2001 and 'Southeastern' was his 4th solo album. Most of you probably only know one song on the album, Cover Me Up, due to Wallen's cover of it.

Just goes to show when you try to control what someone does you seriously limit their potential. Let people sing what they want & do & say as they please. Even if it's all the same genre.. I guarantee someone knows themself better than anyone else does. Why would someone like Luke combs need to sing another genre? He knows his nich. When people become famous artists, 99% of them do strictly 1 genre (unless Eminem traumatizes you like he did MGK) They should have an online show like this where it's all for a virtual audience & there are no judges and they strictly go by who gets the most votes. Sure, having a mentor is a good thing. But they should be just that.. a mentor. Not a control freak. But, these people made it even without winning so it does prove how determined they are.

I have immense for Lady A after reading the reason for the name change. I know many wont understand it but music is a business and money has no political or racial make up. Some old heads feel country is for a certain sect of people. These people need to realiz÷ many of us are from rural and southern roots. We love the music for our own reasons. My father was a rodeo clown, my great great+ grandfather was a famous us Marshall. And on my mothers side my irish ancestors were equivalent to ranchers. I grew up around horses and my grandfather who showed me the live for the land. I am country tho I may not look the same.

If they made it past the auditions I wouldn't consider them rejected. Rejected is being denied period. Some on this list made it through auditions and went through several rounds, there was just someone better that won. That's the very opposite of rejection.
