I met Luke combs back when he wasnt even famous at a gas station with me and my husband in loxahatchee Florida where we live. He was promoting his CD at bars and taking small gigs and he stopped his small tour bus at the gas station next to a little local dive bar to fill his tank and gave us one of his CDs and talked for awhile. He played us a preview of some of his songs on his phone and I was like dude you need to be famous you're gonna be huge. Hes a really down to earth awesome guy and I'm so happy he found a contract so he can mass produce his music and keep making good studio quality music so everyone can hear him. Genuinely love his music!

Those shows (TheVoice, XFactor, American Idol, etc.) are all scripted and Luke Combs would have NEVER won any of them. Sadly, it's because they don't care about the music, but rather it's about propping up the best looking guys and gals. These show epitomize what it means to fake, produced, rehearsed, and generic. Thus, it's no surprise that when these winner do make their debut, they are usually one hit-wonders. I'm from the old school, when Country was Country, Songs were written and performed by Country artists, But I will say this George Strait is and Always be King of Country, just as Hank Williams Sr. is still the King of Country, his Country Music still lives on to this day! So will George Strait's music as Hank's did 💿📀🎙🎙👑👑 No one will ever feel their Cowboy boots! But good luck to Luke Combs👏👍....

upchurch helped a ton and we are better off for it. Luke is what most real country fans want. A fun, real country, independent kind of star. He is real. Us old country fans dig him. Same with Chris Stapleton. And while I am on the subject, where can I get in line to punch Sam Hunt in the throat with a Florida Georgia Line chaser?

Luke is a superstar no question, he reminds me of prime country late 80’s to mid 90’s when country was AWESOME. With that said let’s not compare him to Garth Brooks just yet, he has a LONG way to go before that’s a conversation. NO ONE can sell concert tickets like Garth

He should be grateful they turned him away. At least he didn't have to deal with the Hollyweirdo's, who own programs like the voice. They chew these people up during the show and spit them out at the end. Their great talent goes no where.

I think that there are so many potential stars on the voice but it is a competition game show. So at least the process gave him validation that he made the top 200. A blessing in disguise that he made it on his own. ❤

I'd put that letter in the SAME Frame with his 1st Major Industry Award, not just beside it or beneath it in a separate wall mounting. This story reminds me of what Waylon said to Chet Atkins about Willie Nelson being sent back to Texas after being rejected by Nashville Tennessee.

I know people who have auditioned and told that they didn't have enough of a back story. That's crazy - it's a vocal competition for crying outloud!
@quinnmelvin68443 жыл бұрын
That actually happened to me on american idol. I was 16 they told me I was talented but I didnt stand out and was just "pretty" and came off as entitled. Little did they know I lived in a trailer with holes in the walls and had 3 jobs to support my 4 brothers and sisters because my parents where too lazy to get jobs themselves. Didnt even think to consider I spent 3 days standing in line in the heat of Miami and was tired, nervous, hungry because I couldn't afford their expensive concession stand food and just wanted to make a good impression. Pretty much gave up on signing after that. But now I live ina clean beautiful house, I'm 25 married with a little boy and very happy so none of that really matters anymore. But that's the reality of these shows. They dont care if you have talent or not. And its not like I was even lied to they straight up told me I was very talented and had great breathe control and had a really beautiful voice that filled a whole room and was loud to the point where i didnt need a mike. I was definitely thinking I'd get the ticket. I could've opened up I guess but who wants to spill their guts to all these producers? I didnt wanna get picked because anyone felt bad for me and I was also embarrassed. Oh well lol
@valeriecohrs54713 жыл бұрын
So sorry you went through all that. But I’m very happy that you have such a good life now. But please don’t allow your talent to go away continue to sing and bring joy to all those around you

It happens a lot. There's so many amazing artists that go on one of those shows and win but you don't hear about them. Or amazing singers don't get the chance to win but end up getting signed and going big.

Great motivator for him. Taylor tells the story about her music teacher in high school (I think?) who told her she wasnt good enough and she would never make it and was just downright mean (she wrote the song Mean about the teacher) anyway she said she used that as motivation to prove them wrong. She also made sure to send the teacher tickets to her first sold out stadium show at the teachers home town with a personal note saying I hope they enjoy the show.
