G'day guys, episode 22 (Final Episode) Loretta Coal Miner's Daughter. It's great that Loretta can express her childhood so eloquently through her lyrics. Really gives us an insight into her upbringing.

I’ve always loved “How Green Is My Valley”, it’s a wonderful movie. Loretta is such a beautiful soul, very down to earth with no pretenses at all. ❤️

This is a truely great song. People will talk about the love, struggle and pride tied up in the lyrics of this song but what makes it one of the all time greats are the last two lines, "Not much left but the floors. Nothing lives here anymore but the memories of a coal miner's daughter." She raises you up with the love and pride in the first part of the song and then slams you down with the knowledge that that world is all gone now and you are literally left standing in the ruins.

Loretta Lynn is the REAL DEAL. Genuine, salty, gutsy, down to earth, and one superb singer-songwriter. Check out "Fist City". She wasn't afraid to mix it up, with the "other woman" or her own husband when he got violent. She once knocked him down and knocked out a couple of his teeth when he came after her.

You couldn't have picked a better Loretta song....this is my favorite! This is actually about Loretta's life! You need to watch the movie by the same name...it is all about her life and how she started singing at such a young age! Thanks this was a great series all week! I hope you do it again.....you've only scratched the service of country music!

My mom's favorite. She saw her in Dallas Tx in the late sixties, and kept talking about how down to earth and humble Loretta was. AND the beautiful red dress she wore on stage lol. My son loves country. I haven't really listened to it since my mom and dad were alive or since I bartended yrs ago. Thank you and like everyone else it would be great to see this like once a week or so.

Loving your country reactions! I love this song, it has special meaning to me as I am a coal miners daughter from Kentucky. It always bring tears to my eyes as I lost my dad in a coal mining accident when I was young. You are right she has an accent a lot like Tammy's.

NO.....you can't stop here. There are so many more artists to hear from. It's hard to believe that Loretta is still touring today. I was fortunate enough to see her live in concert a few times. When her concert was over, she would sit down on the edge of the stage and greet her fans. She wouldn't leave until the she greeted every last fan. Not many artists do that today, except for Home Free, and I think Taylor Swift.

I'm so sad country week is over. I've really enjoyed your reactions. And there's so many more great songs for you to discover. Maybe we could have country Sundays or something? Lol. Seriously, thank you for being open minded and listening with emotion. A good song might make someone laugh, make someone dance or make someone cry. A good song makes you feel something, regardless of genre of any other label.

Loretta had a very interesting life. So very very poor. I think she married when she was about 14. Which was not uncommon in that culture. My grandmother did the same. My dad was raised very similar. So poor, as children, that they had no shoes to wear in the summer. Coal Miners Daughter is really good. It is Loretta's life in Butcher Hollow, she marries and her husband takes her to Nashville, TN. That is how she became a country music star. The journey is very entertaining to watch. lol Loretta is a tough one, for sure.

So many great songs & movies came out of hard times! Loretta sang what she knew. Listen to “You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take my Man”! Another movie about coal mining in US is “October Sky”. True story in 1950s. Very inspirational. Great reaction to Loretta!

I went to see Loretta Lynn and George Jones several years ago. Loretta was back on her game and wonderful but George was having some trouble and one of the band members was standing behind mouthing words to him for some of the songs. At least he showed up and he did sound good, just a bit wobbly with his memory.
