I love this. One of my good friends is another white Jamaican lady, who came to Jamaica from the U.K., with her parents when she was 4 yrs old. She was raised in JA; has JA citizenship; speaks better patois than me; knows her way around JA better than me; married a Jamaican; the whole nine yards. She still gets a kick out of people in JA "twanging" when they speak to her, thinking she's a tourist, and then she busts their bubble when she says "Yow. A yaso mi come fram, so nuh badda wid de twang".

White Jamaicans are truly unique and are truly a unique set of people. This also includes the ones who immigrated to Jamaica and decides to stay. One of my Great Grandparent was a British, John Wiles supposedly from Leeds. Sadly, he is the only one of my Great Grandparents whose heritage we could search and trace.

I live in the Bahamas and most of these white Bahamians are so Americanized they act so stush n proud like Dem better than their native Bahamians. Oh gosh how fabulous to hear this. I only lived in Jamaica for three years, as a child, but I have never forgotten the place. We first lived on Old Hope Road and then moved to Cunningham Avenue. I would play with my friends in the gully and we had bullfrogs living in holes in the back lawn. As was the way at the time, we had a maid called Hazel and I loved her. She taught me so much and she would laugh at my ignorance and put me right!! Loving these videos. Thanks so much.
