I thought the states of the West and some in the middle of the US weren't part of the USA and didn't joined the fight or lately. And slavery was abolished in 1865 at the very end of the war no? It was not the cause of the begining of civil war. Am I wrong ?

Actually it wasn’t abolished until 1866. They passed the abolishment in 1865 as a military tactic like emancipation proclamation in 1863. The proclamation only freed slaves in the confederacy but not Union states or Union occupied territories at that point so the Union had 8 slave states in 1864. The war was about nationalism and patriotism and limited government and not losing states. Slavery was only a political issue, not what people died for.

@@Russian_reichNo actually just Jefferson Davis and some other people wanted slavery.Generals like P.G.T Beauregard,Braxton Bragg,Joseph.E.Johnston,James Longstreet,Stonewall Jackson and above all,the superior commander Robert Edward Lee just served their country.For example,when Robert Lee was invited and said that he might have lead the Union army.But Lee said that he was born in Virginia,he didn't want to invade and fight against his homeland(as Virginia was part of Confederate)
