Never heard of D B Smith but checked them out as you were talking and I think I’ll order one to try! Thanks for introducing me to this brand. I have two Chapin and like them but both have stopped holding pressure even though I clean them and lubricate them. The kits to repair any sprayer cost almost as much as a sprayer! Seems like they want us to toss the old and buy new. I am going to try adding a valve to one if mine so I can add pressure that way instead. Have you done this to any if your sprayers?
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 7 ай бұрын
Honestly the Chapin turned out to be the best one in the long run. I still like the DB Smith but not as much as that Chapin. I did a video on the fix for pressure loss but it was just about lubricating and replacing the seals. Those fixes have both always worked for me.

Is there a seller that sells a flat 360 degree spray head? the typical spray head does not get to the underside/backside of the leaves and I have a terrible problem of leaf hopper on my grapes. the grapes grow against a fence so I can't get to the back side to spray for them. I saw a sprayer once that sprayed 360 deg, so you could stick the spray head behind the vines and it would spray all around the back side. Help!

Love your review and advice. All the way Down Under, here in Australia. 4yrs later are you still using the same sprayers in the video, or have you upgraded? Would love to see a video comparing brand new to 1-2yr old sprayers. Cheers mate, keep up the good work with the videos you put out. I can find the Ironton sprayer here but found the "Chapin" and "DB Smith" 1-gallon versions. Can't find Ironton here but have found the 'Chapin' 1gallon 20000 garden sprayer for roundabout 25$ USD (38$aud), The DB Smith Bleach/Chemical Sprayer 1gallon for 130$usd (195$aud). I Think I'm going to grab a Chapin.

Back in 1988 I had bought a pressure wash franchise a year into it I fell into an opportunity where I needed a good heavy duty HVLP pump sprayer, "spray doctor" was by far the best. I could spray CWF all day long, clean it every time when finished and it lasted for years. Nothing has ever been better, not even close for the money, back then 18 $20 per unit. It was just built great. I'm thinking I must have pushed thousands of gallons of material through those Garden sprayers.

Also is there a more powerful sprayer you could recommend. to cover a large lawn area...? ....Thank you,...
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. The number of pumps depends on how open the nozzle is and how much you are spraying out of it, so it is really hard to say. I have upgraded to the Chapin Pro 2 gallon which is much better. For a lawn, maybe a pull behind sprayer for a riding lawn mower would be best but I don't know how big your lawn is.

I find that the 2 gal. sprayers you find that are made by Fountainhead Group and branded with either Roundup, Scotts or Ortho are very good quality for the price point ($25-30) and parts are not expensive. The downside is they have no pressure Release Valve. But they are solidly built, take less pumps to pressurize the tank and have good pressure for an inexpensive pump sprayer. However it is not rated for bleach, acids, sealers or any caustic substances.

Thanks putting up great video How is Hudson ?? Do I need a different sprayer for oil & soap / detergent mixed fungicide ? Why I can not use one for all purpose ??
@CountryLivingExperience

Thank you. The oil and soap mixture can be used in one sprayer. You can use one for all purposes. It is just easier for me to have multiple sprayers ready at all time. I have never used a Hudson.

Country Living Experience: A Homesteading Journey thanks 🙏 for quick reply. !!! For any sprayer mechanism are same . Do not you think the oil substances are sticky and likely to deposit dirt and block pipe / wand or gaskets is I am from my general knowledge I am thinking ! What you say ? My next point if i consider your brand can with stand oil substance as you are using . But how can I get it ? I leave in Bangladesh ! Do you name me any suppliers in your list from my country ? I appreciate if you can provide me the name of suplier here in Bangladesh. !! Usually our things comes from China. !!

Each brand of sprayer has a different quality mechanism. Some have filters to block dirt that gets into the tank. I think you misunderstand. These are not my products. I purchased them at local stores. All of them are made in China accept one which has some American made parts.

I read lots of reviews on sprayers, almost all are made by same company and get mixed reviews. The Harbor Freight pump actually had better reviews! I bought one, have used it once now to spray deck sealer. Pumped up easily, had a nice wide funnel like top on it, and did not leak. Only thing I wish it had was a fan shaped spray, instead of a round stream. Price was only $14.99 for 2 gallon sprayer.

the pressure which one has more pressure over the other one???
@CountryLivingExperience

They can all hold a similar amount of pressure depending on how much you pump it. All of the higher quality sprayers I mentioned will hold that pressure for a long amount of time without needing to be re-pumped.

My concern is on the tips. Most 5 gallon backpack sprayers let you change the tips. I only need a 1 gallon for a lot of jobs though, and would prefer a fan tip. Most come with a circular spray tip that I can't replace with a teejet or comparable fan tip nozzle though.

Question. Is this the D.B. Smith model that you rec in the video? (they make a lot of diff ones and your video didn't show the front!) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YNSADU/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I love my "I Must Garden" deer repellent (least smelly) but I am so tired of it clogging up sprayers!! Want to try a D.B.Smith for it. And am buying another Chapin for spraying Bonide Fung-onil on day lilies newly suffering from leaf streak. Am I on the right track?

Yes, that is the same sprayer. Make sure you clean it out after every use so that whatever chemical you use does not build up inside and gum up the sprayer mechanism. You are on the right track for sure.

I would say no. The pressure behind small pump sprayers is not that high. You will need an air compressor and spray gun.

the rubber o ring seal in the pump is usually the culprit. best to take the pump apart before you put it away for the season and put some petroleum jelly on the o ring and on the rubber part at the bottom of the pump as they do tend to dry out when not used regularly. if you treat each sprayer with a little maintenance before putting them away for the winter they will last a lot longer.

99% of solutions you mix for use in a sprayer of any kind have a very short life once mixed, so there is no use in mixing more than you need and to keep stored in the sprayer weeks/months. Yes. it is more work to have to mix your solution every time you use a sprayer and then to clean it out after every use, but this is how you do it if you want your solutions to be most effective and if you want your equipment to last as long as possible.

i got one of those harbor freight sprayers. it has outlasted the ones i got from tractor supply and walmart. in fact i still use it for spraying neem oil and i have had it for several years. i came here because i am now in the market for a new sprayer and cannot decide on buying yet again a cheap one for less than 20 bucks of getting the dewalt from home depot for about $35 plus tax. i was loading up a sprayer with some probiotics for my garden yesterday and the sprayer was almost full and not much room to pump. two pumps gave a lot of pressure and like a dummy i pumped one more time. well it busted the bottom out. i managed to keep most of the liquid in a catch pan and had to grab my sprayer i use for bt and rinsed it out real well. i generally prefer having a sprayer for each use and do not like switching their use from one thing to another so now i need to pick up a replacement.
