Matt - you’ve helped me so much and please folks...listen when he says don’t worry too much about the strumming pattern. Keep at it. I have found that, with Matt’s help, I’ve gotten better. It seems to come in waves. I’ll seem to not get any better for weeks or more and then bam....the muscle memory kicks in and I feel like another skill becomes easier. I’m still very much a beginner, but I’m getting over the hump. Thanks Matt!!!

I’m 56 and started playing over a year ago. I am just now to the point where I am getting comfortable playing simple three chord songs. It is by far the hardest thing I have ever tried to learn, but it’s also very rewarding when you are actually able to make some music

Thank you Matt! At the beginning of 2020 I made it a goal to learn to play the guitar and that's when I found your tutorials on KZbin. I can now play a lot of songs with the four chords you teach and it's awesome to be able to play my favorite songs I hear on the radio. Now I'm trying to master the track chords! My first Ever gutair was an Ovation Ecoustic electric given to me by my big brother! Back in 99' and I Still have her, " Beauty" is her name and I will Never Ever give her up. ( tried selling her, twice back when I was in hard times, but Luckily no one wanted her!) I have an Epiphone acoustic and an academy acoustic and and electric one, but I ALWAYS want the gutair that is in the song "mine forever" by Lord Huron..I don't know what it's called though..it's a deep tinny sounding gutair..I'm going to keep collecting them though..

man, all your topics hit the nail on mny issues. started with a 50$ 3/4 size. fasttrac about 8 months of everyday practice, hardly missed i went to upgrade. jus recently a few weeks ago. a 350$ fender classic cutback with tuner and electric. i felt the improvement instantly. jus leared c9 cheat. c chord is getting better already. ive been steering away from songs with bm.. but now, thanku so much, im going straight to bm songs!

hes not wrong ive been watching these videos for roughly 5 yrs now... and i was soo bad after the 2nd yr i just quit playing completely... but picked it back up 6 months later and the difference now is night and day! moral of the story its difficult and will definitely challenge you but if you want it bad enough stick with it it'll come!

Amen matt, I have been playing just over 2 years now and I still suck lol, I am alot. Better than last year but it's your advice and your videos and some others here on YT that have help carry me through. This is my second time picking up guitar, first time i tried it was back in 2008 I gave up after 2 months. Dude I went into a local guitar store and played a $2,700 guitar I was seriously playing better ut was like a Cadillac compared to my 300 beginner fender I bought.

I could not play the c cord or f cord. Also, i need to learn strumming. Keep in mine, i'm a senior. But , i love singing. It's my hope and prayer that i will learn the guitar. And yes , i'm slow.

My guitar pisses me off. I can't even take my fingers off the string without it buzzing. Seems like everything I do it buzzes. I know it's probably me, too. But even when I play a chord and strum it out perfectly, it sounds like a bee nest is in my sound hole
