Any limb on the property which is lower than an outstretched hand is a candidate for trimming. Start with the driveway. One trunk every 10 feet will let the light reach the ground. The work never stops. Love the work.

Evan, I applaud you and Rebecca for the work you have done to remove that many years of trash that accumulated over the years before you bought the land. Back in "the day" there was no rural trash service so many farmers unfortunately tossed their trash in any low spot on the property. I remember as a boy hunting rabbits on farms and finding huge pits of cans and bottles and whatever. You've got your land much cleaner now. The way it should be. Good job.

Evan and Rebekah... I have really enjoyed watching you transform the "trash pit" into the beautiful property you have today. A lot of time, effort, expense, and love has gone into achieving your vision. Thanks for bringing us along. Looking forward to more episodes of cleaning up the property. Back in the day, there was no easy recycling service and the common view was that it was an easy way to get rid of trash while patching / filling a ditch. Looking back it makes no sense either but did back then. At some point in the 60's or 70's the local county where I grew up banned the practice.

Until early 1950's rural residents did not have trash service & landfills known as The City Dump were for city/people use only. Very few pickup trucks existed then. Under President Dwight D. Eisenhower's first term, First Lady Mamie ( 1952-1960) claimed she did NOT like flying over the Midwest seeing a dump area on every farm. In my area township owned, controlled & operated dumping ground was purchased. A fee was paid by each resident to discard their trash into a large pit as needed. In mid 70's, this procedure was replaced by county landfills & presently by Multi counties bringing their trash by semi-trailers to one central landfill used by a much larger radius of cities, counties & individuals. Slowly for past 46 years earlier transgressions are being rectified. Hope this helps to explain many years of discarding of junk/trash in the country.

What a mess! My hat's off to you two. My late wife and I worked together on many projects over the years, some nice, clean ones and some awful, cruddy, stinky and so on. You guys did what is necessary- stuck with it 'til it's done. If this had been on my property, I may have considered hiring a neighbor with a backhoe to dig a giant pit to bury all that stuff in and cover it with a couple feet of dirt. It's not like you have harmful chemicals and garbage, just wood and metal and some plastics. That Rebekah is a worker like my wife was. But she doesn't like the little critters, neither did my wife. LOL If she happened on a snake, she was half way to the house before you knew what's going on.
