Couple fighting to keep service dog in Etobicoke condo

Residents at an Etobicoke condo building have been told they need to pay up or lose their service dog. Erica Natividad with details on the dispute and how the condo board has changed course since CityNews began asking questions.

condo living is filled with restrictions but in this case the board has gone too far in asking for legal fees and more proof than required. the board wlll lose the human rights case and the condo its reputation.

The no pet clause is illegal and has never held water in court. The landlord can turn you away on application but if you get a pet once living somewhere they cannot legally kick you out because you own a pet. This information comes straight from a real estate lawyer.

He has every right to keep the dog without being ripped off for hundreds of dollars by a rogue condo board. People are going nuts with stress these days and now you want to take what calms them down away, not to bright. Everyone should get a dog!

If a person is paying rent, they should have right to keep an animal. Else they should have right to ask a human to be evicted if they dont like them. Rental mafia should know this loud and clear this is not an Islamic country yet and people have their rights if they are paying for the space

Buy a house then , those other people have rights too , your right to a pet shouldn’t trump someone’s right to healthy living ,allergies , barking and people not cleaning up after their pets.. I’m an animal lover .. 1 Irish wolfhound, 3 fish, 2 cats , and a turtle. Go buy a house. The mortgage is probably cheaper than your rent.

Just because you can't see someone's disability doesn't mean they aren't disabled, there are numerous disabilities that can't be seen.

Dogs are aloud to live anywhere in Canada. Its discriminating against dogs. Its illegal to say no dogs aloud. Not just a service dog but any dog. Their part of your family. Canada is getting crazy.

You shouldn't have to go through that with your dog. Your dog is aloud to be with you where you rent. Or buy. It doesn't matter. Its against the law in Canada to say no dogs. Its inhumane. The board can be sued an charged with discriminating against dogs. Animals are so much better then people. People are to much. I feel sorry for people. They should be ashamed of themselves

Everyone will claim service dog then when they bite a child going to school or someone else you will hear "my dog is very friendly, I don't know what happened"
