Balcony growing is the unsung hero of urban gardening. My fruits and veggies grew better than my plot at my local community garden because I didn’t have to worry about pest pressure. I’m impressed at how much they’re growing!

For sure! A lot of apartment balconies don't seem to get used very much so growing a bit of food on them could be really fun! It's also surprising to see how much can grow in such a small space. Thanks for checking out this video and have a great week :)

It's amazing how much food you can grow on a balcony. Mine is much smaller but I grow a lot on it. Having a worm farm is ideal for producing soil and fertilizer 👍 The visitors you get on your balcony are very colorful 🌈🐦 and so cute 🐕💛

Wonderful video, thanks for posting. I have an AreoGarden so herbs, spices and veggies can be grown indoors. It's great as a starter for veggies too, that can then be replanted outdoors once they start growing, which is what a friend does. My last harvest was dill, two types of basil, thyme, mint, parsley. Just plant food, water and lights ...had several harvests from the last batch. In fact I still have some dill that I dried. :)

Great video, really liked it. :) Growing veggies in small space myself. This year I grew tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, pak choi, and salad on our windowsills. And the typical herbs like peppermint, basil, chive. With this limited space there are no big harvests but its a lot of fun and so relaxing. Also using two worm bins. :)

Just came across your channel by chance and I am so impressed with your balcony garden. Your dog is so adorable too. I really love to have a little urban garden as I live in an apartment in Perth, but I have a phobia about worms and caterpillars, and I must admit it has prevented me from planting vegetables and fruits. I wish you both all the best, and happy gardening.

This is such a wonderful idea. Having on hand vegetables for dinner! Though you need a strict management of the space but it worth it. As they are high level they must have less bugs. Like very much there organization for composting as week. Wish we can live in Australia to do this all year! Great job congrats.

One could also consider what the most expensive vegetables are to buy. Growing your own Fennel/Anise can save grocery money if needing enough of it for example. Just a thought. We much prefer heirloom tomatoes over hybrids for flavor. Purple Cherokee is our favorite. A single plant is producing more than enough. Here in Tennessee we're still picking them mid October. As an extra bonus you can save heirloom seeds for the next growing season.

Congrats on the garden. You mentioned you had aphids. I don’t know if this will work for you…I had 8 rose bushes in my yard. When I started them (as bare root) I chopped up some garlic cloves and put about 2 cloves worth around by the roots, but not on them. I never had a pest. AND, incase you’re wondering, no, they never smelled like garlic. 😄
