If I was younger would enjoy the off Grid, shed to home etc. As I grew up would have been a blessing if all this was available. Born 1934, Depression and WWII kept most American's sort of a stand still. Work, save, count your blessing and start over again and again each day without little change.

It would be cool to build a large outdoor kitchen shelter between the houses with all the equipment for summer canning and maybe a storage room for the freezers, canning equipment …etc. And a fireplace on the other end.

When they built the sheds, did they incorporate tie down straps into the build ? And the eventual weak spots around your exterior walls is going to be under your doorways. That is where everyones weight will come into contact with the floor & it will weaken over time. GET BLOCKS UNDER THE DOORWAYS.

I have a shed similar to these that I bought and had delivered in 2011. That siding is Phenomenal! It's been out there for 10 years and hasn't deteriorated at all. The Only thing that has gone wrong with it is that one of the skids, that the shed is built onto has twisted. I think if I had gotten under it back when I bought it, and hammered in some cross braces between the skids, it would have kept it from twisting. Mine is grey and pretty blah. I love that honey brown you guys got.

I put my outdoor lights away from the doors to avoid bugs at night gathering right by the door. Wrap all your plumbing pipe under the house in REFLECTEX to keep it from freezing. It looks like foil insulation and it's in a roll. Great stuff. Spray foam that metal ceiling to stop condensation. Because of the humidity in your area, I would put a solar fan in the attic crawlspace. On demand hot water and mini-split heat/AC pumps will simplify your life. Storm doors before winter to keep your door jam from rotting. Use oil based paint for exterior door & frames. Go pex plumbing and shark bite fittings. Congrats!!
@countryroadcure3 жыл бұрын
Awesome tips thank you so much. We have plans to spray foam the roof and underneath. We did have them add vents to each side but the installing fans would help that humidity escape. Thank you again for all the tips, we appreciate it 😊

@@countryroadcure Anthony, if you haven't set up a pro account with HD you should do so. If you purchase over $1500 worth of supplies, you can put your list up for "bid" at the pro-desk and get items at reduced prices. I saved atleast 30% on most items I needed. I gave them a complete list of bathroom stuff, lighting, doors, cabinets, flooring, electric, insulation, nails, screws, plumbing, etc with the SKU numbers and they gave me a printout of the shelf price versus my cost.

The floor not only needs strength, it meeds moisture protection. Ive seen several that after one or two winters, one day your floor will just open up to a big hole. These are sheds. Their not made to live in. Esp since you have children living inside, redo all the flooring and protect from moisture :-)

Before you start building inside, check to make sure that the sheds are as level as possible. You can build a good water level with a milk jug and a hundred feet of clear 1/4" tubing. It will be more accurate than a 4' level. Check at each block support location. Use a bottle jack and shims or wedges on top of the cap block to make the adjustments.

I Luv, Luv, Luv the colours on your new abodes. Gorgeous. It really makes the area pop! Nice to see Roxanne out & about. I hope her eyes feel a lot better. Think about renting goats & pigs with electric fences to clear out all of the brush areas. Remember what the pigs don't eat, the goats will. Actually, you should just buy a couple of pigs and goats. You can benefit by getting goat milk and with the pigs, well, they can head for the freezer at some point.

I’ve been sitting on pins and needles all week waiting to see then bring in and set up your new home! It did not disappoint! Everything looks so beautiful and it’s only going to get better! Roxanne was so cute her smile was as big as could be. God bless you!🙏💕
