The duel between John Laurens and Charles Lee did take place; on December 23, 1778 just outside of Philadelphia. Whilst Hamilton served as Lauren’s second in this duel, Burr did not serve as Lee’s; an officer named Evan Edwards filled that role. Lee did take a ball to the side and Hamilton and Edwards managed to settle the dispute before the two men could fire a second time. Both Laurens and Lee died in 1782. Lee died of a fever in a tavern in Philadelphia on October 2nd at the age of 50. Laurens had been killed in a skirmish near Charleston, South Carolina on August 27, 1782 at the age of 27. He was one of the last casualties of the Revolutionary War.

I absolutely LOVE that Burr was the second for Charles Lee, who is played by Jon Rua in this, and in "The World Was Wide Enough" Jon Rua was also Van Ness, Burr's second. That, plus the fact that Sydney James Harcourt was not only James Reynolds, but also Phillip Schuyler (during "Helpless") and the doctor that Phillip was rushed to is a brilliant choice, if intentional.
