Roxette were a pop duo from Sweden... this was from 1988, but the group took off in America in 1989... "It must have been love" was a Christmas song originally in 1987... but the producers of 'Pretty woman' wanted it for the movie, so the lyrics were changed a bit and Marie Fredriksson did new vocals. The song became their biggest single 🔥 Roxette carried on until 2016... sadly Marie Fredriksson succumbed to cancer in 2019 after a long battle (R.I.P. 😪)

Yesterday marked 2 years of the lead singer, Marie, passed away. React to more Roxette. They never disappoint. Listen to your heart, Fading like a flower and maybe The look. You'll get the all round feel and an idea of what they were about ❤️

R.I.P. Marie! What a voice! They were huge in Europe (where I come from). It’s so sad that she left that early! I saw her on her last concerts. She hardly couldn’t move because of of her brain cancer… but her voice was still breathtaking. when she sang that song the thousand people were quiet like I never heard it before, this was such a moving moment I will never forget

When this group came out in America, I almost freaked out. I had known, and dated, a woman named Michele that could have been her exact twin. Ever since then whenever I hear one of their songs, there she is in my minds eye. Their song 'Listen to your heart' is a real memory booster for me.

This version is actually from 1990. But the original version is from 1987. Called "It Must Have Been Love (Christmas for the Broken Hearted)". There's a (much simpler) video for that one also.

I'm 37 and I just watched pretty woman for the first time this year lol. I actually liked the movie! 80s had a lot of good female bands, most were one hit wonders, but some made lot of hits. Pat Benatard Cindy Lauper Jone jett and black hard and much more.

This song was originally supposed to be a X-mas song with other lyrics.. but Per Gessle got a request for a song to the Movie Pretty Woman and re-wrote the lyrics which resulted in this version.. He is one he.. of a songwriter !!.. R.I.P. Marie, but also to Pelle Alsing.. the drummer who passed away only one year after Marie.. He was a sweet soul, I used to meet him at the local cafe/kiosk Cafe Brasco here in Stockholm !! Thank you for the Music !!

80's suggestions? I Like To Rock by April Wine. They have a great in-studio video of them playing it live. I've always loved how they hand off the three guitars, each with its own sound, and how the style of the playing all weaves together.

The song was written in the 80s and released in Sweden as a Christmas song. Per Gessle (on guitar there) took out the Christmas related lyrics and re-released it when the Pretty Woman producers asked them to write a track for the film. So the song is older than the film.

You can't go wrong with this band, Roxette was not her name it was Marie the guitarist was the first singer they were friends at the time, but she was in the band later they started dating, and then got married they were best friends and madly in love till she passed away from cancer he never left her side he cleaned, dressed, fed and made sure she took her medicine they were the love of their lives. Good Man. RIP Marie. Please play more Roxette. Much love to you and your family.
