I took my Dad to see him live(it was a smaller show) for his birthday about 20 years ago. Within 5 minutes of him coming on stage, the whole place smelled like weed. I was like 17 lol. Willie played for 3 friggin hours, then came and shook everyone's hand once he was done. I told Dad to get in the damn car because we were going somewhere...and he fought me until he eventually agreed. We drove about 45 minutes, and my Dad was getting pissed at this point. We pulled up and he saw the sign. He hugged me and started crying(two things of which he never did.)

Willie's hit rate is Huge (I bet he would thank Patsy a little, as he should)! Willie is a musical genius. Just curious, but did you know that Dolly Pardon has written about 3000 songs? And yes, that includes the often misrepresented "I Will Always Love You". Personally, I would take Willie's hits over hers, but that is still a tremendous accomplishment. My favorite Willie song is an acoustic "Pretty Paper". My favorite Dolly song is probably the original "Coat of Many Colors". "Peace Love!!

I lived next door to a civic center and willie was playing that night. Recently bought a backpacker guitar and went to the bus to see if he’d sign it. At the same time one of the roadies arrived and got on the bus with groceries.. bus door opens and smoke poured out of that bus!! Hahah!! I did get the git signed after his concert and he even played it a bit! That was 20 years ago

I have seen Willie in concert four times. I even shook his hand once. Willie just turned 90 this year and he is still out there performing! He has really bad emphysema but he refuses to retire. Due to his health issues he can no longer smoke weed but he does eat edibles daily.
