I love this. I think Kaguya fits the Sorcerer class a bit better because of how naturally gifted she is at things Shirogane has to struggle for, and her powerful, overbearing lineage. If anything, Hayasaka might be more of the Rogue. I wonder if Ishigami would be more of a traditional cleric? High wis I agree fits, but I definitely see him as more of a support class. If we're going with 5e dnd, then Death domain for how often he spirals into fits of depressed apathy. 😂

@Lee Almonte honestly I did reconsider Kaguya for Sorcerer after I thought a bit about what Hayasaka would be because Hayasaka would totally be the rogue, and Kaguya does tend to rely on natural talent. I'd still keep Ishigami in ranger though, we saw how fast he is at the sports festival plus whatever hand-eye coordination he has for video games, and he knows a lot about fish (from the shojo manga episode) and flowers (from a few episodes in season 3). He's also got the Hide in Plain Sight ability mastered, from how often he's just chilling in the council room without anyone noticing

Kaguya as a sorcerer and Shirogane as a wizard really fits their dynamic- what Kaguya has through natural talent and privilege, Shirogane has to study and struggle endlessly for.

This show does such a great job at explaining local customs and stories. Like the story of Princess Kaguya is one of the oldest recorded stories in Japan, and they just condensed it to a couple of sentences so they could reference it to full effect internationally. It's grounded in local customs and set in Japan but clearly designed for an international audience to enjoy and I really respect that.

Moeha doesn't hate or feel jealous of Kei or Kaguya. She really likes both of them, it's just that she is very sadistic. The 'I'm an unwanted child' in the beginning is not for Kaguya but for the tagline of the show (The Geniuses' War of Love and Brains) which was in the first season but not the second. That's why the line is said by a girl with the tagline as the head. Ishigami wanted to beat Miko in a landslide so others will think 'Well she didn't have a chance anyways' instead of teasing her for losing. The Shoujo manga scene has like every single cliche in a typical shoujo series. Even the turning down scene is eerily similar to a lot of other shoujo where they have characters say some stupid stuff and not communicate properly just to lengthen the story. They keep showing the fish in the doctor's visit because the word for love (koi) and that carp (koi) is the same. So it's used as a metaphor there. The reason Ishigami never said anything is so that the theatre kid won't take the anger out on Ogino. We already know he has photos or videos of her with him. We saw why he was allowed to come back to Hgh school. The school had initially decided against graduating him, but Miko stood up for him which caught the eye of the principal who allowed him to come back. It hasn't actually been a lot of time since the stalker incident. Remember that Ishigami is in first year of high school and the incident happened at last year of junior high. So, it has only been around a year.

When Hayasaka encounter the headmaster with a phone outside the school there is a visual joke that you can only understand if you know a little bit of japanese. She shows in a speech bubble an image of something flashy (Pika) and a kiss (chu) and then points to the gym. She was showing the headmaster who was playing pokemon GO that a Pikachu appeared in the school gym.

There was like 4 Pokemon Go references in the manga and among other notable things, Chika causally drops f words uncensored several times, and (my least favorite difference) the chapters of the manga are split into multiple in one episode. Each skit makes up one chapter of the manga. The first skit of the first episode is chapter one, the second skit of episode one is chapter 5. I did not type that wrong. They skip 3 chapters of Kaguya and Miyuki going to the movies. They skip many more but they do that because they're references of things they aren't allowed to due to things that were popular going out of style (among us and Pokemon Go to name a few), nudity, or "jiggle physics". This doesn't fall under either, they just didn't feel like it. Which sucks cause I thought it was quite enjoyable and if they did show it then it would've been Hayasaka's first appearance.

The calming ritual thing is real and common. Watch basketball players before a free throw or tennis players before a serve. Every major character is named after a character from the old folktale of kaguya, either the name sounds similar or it's an alternate reading on the Kanji in their name. Kaguya is kaguyahime, hayasaka was the messenger from the moon who took her back to the moon, chika is named after one of kaguyas suitors who tried to lie and cheat his challenge, ishigami is named after the suitor who tried his challenge and failed and died, and Miyuki (president) is named after the first suitor who got seasick and gave up his challenge.

Well no, Ogino was cheating on Kyoko. Ishigami did a whole investigation and even has evidence stored in that flashdrive or whatever that Ogino stabbed (Ishigami obviously has a backups of it). He doesn't tell everyone that Ogino is cheating on Kyoko simply to protect Kyoko. Revenge porno of her getting out via Ogino's threats is why Ishigami keeps quiet. The fact that Ogino used Kyoko's nudes or herself as a bargaining chip WAS what set Ishigami off, but Ogino was cheating on Kyoko regardless. The guy literally says he can't stop if there are still girls willing to sleep with him.

This is a classic case of college "yari-circle" scheme, the "room" he mentions is a yari-beya. We all know what this is, you just don't get it because it's completely lost in translation. The best art is that there's more. Season 3 and then the 4 episode movie. THEN there are about 3 more season AFTER THAT! The movie ends on chapter 151 essentially if you include parts of chapter 160. The manga ends at chapter 281 and with 12 to 13 episodes with 3 chapters each, that will be what will finish out the series. THEN there is Oshi No Ko that Aka Akasaka did at the SAME TIME as Kaguya. RIght now there is 119 chapters and on Wednesday will be 120 chapters. There is one anime season and more to come. THEN THERE'S MORE. Aka is doing RIGHT NOW ANOTHER SERIES which is a rom com called Renai Daiko/Love Agency along writing Oshi No Ko at the SAME TIME. Aka is one of the very few mangakas that can do TWO SERIES AT ONCE. This is a copy from someone else comment about ishigami story because im bad with english It wasn't "cheating". It's way worse. The details were completely lost to western audience since a lot of it was innuendo and euphemism that only really works in Japanese, but they were alluding to a much darker (and unfortunately common thing usually in college) crime. The boy was trying to pimp out his girlfriend. The room he was reserving is what's called a "yari-beya", basically a sex room by college circle gang bangs. That's why he was willing to use her as bargaining chip with Ishigami, essentially "hey if you keep this quiet you can come over and bang her" This was more nuanced and later even more heavily alluded to in the manga, but the anime kept things a bit vague and even worse the language and cultural barrier kinda made the English audience assume a different story. Most Japanese viewers got it though. Ishigami's silence actually stopped her from falling victim to all this, and keeping her in complete ignorance to what her boyfriend was up to

At 3:43, the scene is using symbology to communicate words. In Japanese "pika pika" is used to denote that something sparkles and "chu" is the kissing sound. So a sparkle followed by a kiss is symbology for "pika-chu". This is the second time this anime references that the Headmaster plays Pokémon Go. Hayasaka is basically telling him that he can find a Pikachu in the gym.

The "hidden room" that was used during the student movement is a reference to the 1970s nation wide student movement (tied to rise of socialism and communism protests) against authorities. Students would barricade themselves in the school. Unfortunately some of these ended up violently, but most were peaceful protests.

Truth be told, you can have romantic love without lust. Lust is the inordinate craving and/or indulgence of carnal pleasures. Some misunderstand that to mean any sexual attraction, but really it only becomes lust if it's part of the active will. For example, choosing to play out sexual fantasies in your mind, choosing to engage in sexually immoral acts etc. So when a random inappropriate thought pops into someone's head it isn't lust, it only becomes lust if they actively choose to engage with the thought. It requires discipline and effort but it's one hundred percent possible.

I so much don't like that they censored details of Ishigami's past for an anime adaptation. Like, the fact that those 2 didn't even understand why Ishigami couldn't just say the truth is an absolute proof that anime adaptation ruined all emotional heaviness of the situation. In the scene where Ogino showed his phone to Ishigami it was girl's nudes and that scumbag in manga literally said to Ishigami "You like her right ? I can lend her to you if you want". That what Ishigami meant by the sentence "He used his own girlfriend as a bargaining chip" and that was the reason why Ishigami went rampage on him. So dude not only was cheating but also tried to sell this poor girl like a pr**titute to Ishigami. Pretty f-ed up right ? Ogino said if Ishigami will tell the truth and damage his reputation so girl's nudes will go public for entire school. With such context in mind Ishigami's accepting blame but resilience about apology makes way more sense. Also they cut out how Ishigami's father was beating him up for his constant refusal to apologize because Shuuchin is school for prestigious kids and such trouble was damage for the name of ishigami's family among the other prestigious people too. Anime cut so little yet so important details that all dark elements of Ishigami's past trouble turned into some light school problem. That's so irritating and it does not give enough credits for Ishigami as a person. Cause instead of understanding a scale of the problem and his dilemma the only thing that comes to you mind is "Jeez, why he just do not say the truth ?"
