But she is crying at Himmel's funeral. She had a full human lifespan to know him better, to share her favourite places and moments with him and she just forgots... Now you are at the end of that story. Keep watching. Best anime start ever!

Just like how Subaru isn't entitled to Emilia's love for helping her, Rem isn't entitled to Subaru's love, and Petelguese isn't entilted to the Witch of Envy's love. That's the whole point. Also, Rem wanted Subaru to reject her. She could have ran away with him but that would "leave behind" the Subaru who never gives up. She loves the Subaru who won't give up on Emilia. Rem also has an unhealthy obsession over Subaru in other moments. Subaru's moments are just uglier due to his messed up mental state.

I think a lot of people forget that rem brutally tortured Suburu and killed him, for almost no reason. No matter how much he trusts and likes her now, I find it hard to believe that a person could ever fully move past a memory like that. I think him not choosing her over Emilia makes good sense in light of that.

Man you guys are great, it's so refreshing to see people who see Subaru as not some self-insert or shounen protagonist, but a KID, 17 year old who knows nothing and is trying his best, with all his flaws and virtues As for "pig's greed", I think it can be interpreted in several ways: 1. Subaru expecting others to help him and not offer anything in return(similar to how you said you have to look at this unempathetically too) 2. The greed Subaru mentioned, him being inept and yet wanting it all 3. It might have been about him wanting to do this while keeping his pride, same as how he acted out during royal election, he did not do it for Emilia's sake, he was driven by the desire to get back at someone Obvious it's kinda stretching but Re:zero can be a bit complicated like that because, well, LN has more details and Subaru's arc has a lot going into it

Whats interesting about frieren is that the names are german and give a hint at their character. Stark (=strong) hes very strong phisically, heiter(=drunk), Frieren(=frozen) like frozen in time, fern (=far away) not exactly sure about it but possibly regarding her range and "far away/hidden" emotions, übel(=multiple meanings but here probably the feeling of something terrible happening hinting at her moral compass. And so many more

While his true virtues shined through, a lot of it was an exterior he put up as a way to cope with his insecurities. When he was transported to another world, he thought that finally he didn't have to be the same person he was before, but eventually(midway) he had to face reality that he is not the person he wants to be. And Rem, with her confession, was able to convince him that even if he doesn't NEED it. Even if he wasted his life away before, right now, it was Subaru who saved her and it was his words that reached her. He could still make a difference in people's lives. With that, she was able to break down that outer exterior he put up that we've only seen slip on a few occaisons. Of course, it means his insecurities still remain and he will be more vulnerable than ever, but with newfound strength, knowing there is someone who definitely has faith in him.

I had a bit of faith in you two for "i love emilia" scene since both of you were pretty observant in almost all other scenes especially in terms of Subaru. But you two completely failed the test. The thing is Rem didn't even want a confirmation to her confession. She literally rejects that when Subaru proposes just few minutes ago. Rejection is the response she wanted as it means Subaru hasn't given up. Rem wants to make a hero out of Subaru not someone that will love her after giving up.

The "I love Emelia" held a very heavy weight between rem and subaru. Not as a rejection, but subaru basically said "I love you" in his own way. Remember, rem loved the subaru that loved Emelia. Subaru knows that , and he wanted to respect her feelings by being someone she so dearly loved. And to solidify this, subaru loved rem and Emelia on the same affection level. He doesn't even rank them, he straight up loves them equally. To put it more simply : Emelia is the reason subaru moves forward. Rem is the reason subaru is ABLE to move forward

This means that all the curses in total are still the same mess, just that only 10% of them (hypothetically) are deadly now. i greatly encourage you to watch "grave of the fireflies". it's a 1988 anime movie 1 hour and 30 minutes long. the story is heartbreaking and depicts the cruelty of ths world. but it is truly a masterpiece. check it out whenever you can🙏
