The old order still exists. They are called the Ancient Order….O Carmelites. The Ancient Order eventually reformed 100 years later and both orders share all the same Carmelite saints and teachings.

Hi! This talk was given by our Rector the Rev. Nigel Massey with Joris Bürmann who at the time was a seminarian with us while studying at Harvard Divinity School. It is from an episcopalian point of view.

Paul says pray without stopping, Jesus said do not pray long winded prayers like the hypocrites. My question is about the liturgy of the hours why is it so long?
@l.elmo.di.scipio Жыл бұрын
Fellow trying-liturgist here ha... The LOTH is that long because of the Psalms, and some of them are a bit long. It's a form of prayer that arches back to the communal prayer of the monks, so it may be not adequate for everybody. Find a prayer or devotion suitable to your daily life. Short or long, the only thing that matters is the contrite heart you pray it from. Blessings in Christ!

I think what Jesus meant is that dont just pray a long prayer to look impressive or be extravagant. A prayer is worth your heart posture, it could be one word if it is genuine 🥰

"I hate it when people people say your suffering is for a reason." Hmmm... is the alternative really better? That is to say, "your suffering has no reason." I think not.

She should be referred to as St. Teresa of Jesus or St. Teresa of Avila. Please respect her sainthood in the same way you show respect for St. John of the Cross.
@FrenchChurch Жыл бұрын
At 56:53 she's referred to as St. Teresa, however it is true that she is referred to as Teresa more often than St John is referred to as John like in the title of the video. Thank you for your comment pointing this out.

Great talk- a glaring piece of misinformation though- those who are in Purgatory have accepted Christ as their Saviour before death. Purgatory is a place of purification, if needed, before you are able to gaze upon the Face of God. NO ONE can be saved after death! Just to add- The Brown Scapular is certainly not a ‘rabbit’s foot’; if worn as a charm it will get you absolutely no where!!
@janettedavis66272 жыл бұрын
Its not compulsory to wear or believe in Scapulars. Christians attacked by Muslims and Muslims attacked by Crusades who were Christian. Then Jews also part of the bloodshed. Religion is a blindfold it hides reality.

This is definitely not a Catholic presentation. Look it up, it's an Episcopal church in New York. You can tell because it just doesn't sound as smooth as a Catholic would make it.
