Lower Coursin St used to be paved with red bricks. McK Little Theater is where the old Jewish Synagogue used to be located. "Bouquet St" is pronounced "boo K" Back in the late '50s the McKeesport High School Band would occasionally practice by marching over to the reservoir and marching around it several times. They would stop traffic as they marched on Union between Grant and Beaver. Us kids marching on the sidewalks with them. Your videos are great. Keep up the good work.

Those homes by the theatre are magnificent. One of the streets is Manor and Coursin.

Fairview cemetery use to be called the old st Joseph cemetery. It might have been only one side though. The caretakers don't keep records, which is a shame. My dad told me my 2nd great grandparents were buried there and I found them one day. I went back to find them again and grass had covered the tombstone and I could not find them again. Unfortunately, there are a lot of shooting victims in that cemetery. My dad told me a story of flooding and coffins were floating down cousin st, which was not yet designated as a street. I asked my dad, what did they do. He said they took the people back and buried them again. People that use to use that cemetery now are buried in the new st Joseph cemetery on route 30.

one side is St Joesph's Cemetary. a Catholic cemetery Both cemeteries were moved to Rt 30 . i believe the name Was GrandView.

If I understand correctly, one side on route 30 is Grandview. The other side is New St Joseph. Most of my McKeesport Carey ancestors are in New st Joseph, including my dad.

@@donnalutheran6335 actually St jospeh is the part in the valley, while Grandview is the part at the top of the hill. There is a road in the cemetery that divides the two cemeteries. but they are on the sme side of route 30

I heard they're trying to revive that area -- the Carnegie Library, McKeesport Little theater, Two Rivers whatever School. Those houses on streets up that hill -- Bailey, Library, Union, Coursin have some of the nicest most historical and impressive architecture in the city. Several doctors lived in that area, but it was not known as "Pill Hill" or anything like that.

Two cemeteries! The one on the left coming up Coursin Street is a Catholic cemetery once called The "Old" St Joseph cemetery formerly of St Peter's Parish. On the right is the Fairview Cemetery. As boys we used to play 'war' in the cemetery, from gravestone to gravestone, until "Pops" the caretaker, would come out and chase us away. I see that the cemetery is in severe decline and is not taken care of. It almost looks like an open field. The cemetery was filled with the usual type of gravestones. What happened to all the markers is anyone's guess -- tragic and disrespectful.

Wow what gets to me no matter what street you ride on, I notice there is absolutely no one outside.It looks like a ghost town You are right about the homes on Carnegie.The homes are very nice. Thank you again for taking the time to explain everything we see.Job well done!!!!!

Def warmer then 59 today. I hate walking all the way up coursin to versailles. That Cemetery has been on the news a couple of times for it being vandalized and overgrown
