I am such a pantser but I've noticed that it is giving me LOTS of plot bunnies. So I've been researching outlining and have actually started one. My novel is getting better because of it too. I'm ready for Camp NaNo this year. Also, your story sounds really good!!

This is great! I’m writing a Cozy, but taking a break from it for NaNo in order to write a sequel for my first novel. My NaNo book is set in Tulsa, so close to Sand Springs! I’m also reading through a cozy series that takes place on a cruise ship, it’s such a great setting for a cozy. Best of luck with your NaNo journey!

Sounds like you’re well prepared, Courtny. And it sounds like a great premise. (Props to Aaron for sparking the idea.) I’d love to read it when you get it completed, as I have faith that you can successfully complete NaNo this year. (Even if you don’t reach 50,000 words in November, you could continue writing the book after that.) In any case, I’d love to sign up now to read it when it’s finished.

I have been doing NaNo since 2007! Always just for fun. The past couple of years I’ve taken it more seriously and hope to have especially last years book published at some point(it’s a middle grade fantasy) however I love cozies and that is what I am working on this year! I have ALWAYS done NaNo as a pantser but this year I am doing some planning so I’m going to say I’m a plantser hybrid lol. I love that your new hubby is helping and supportive!! My hubby is too!

I went on a cruise this summer and the whole time I was thinking about how it was the perfect setting for a cozy! I can’t wait to read this! Also, what happened to your previous cozy? I want to read that one as well. 🤓

That sounds like an awesome premise for a cozy! This will be my second time doing NaNo. I kind of pantsed my first time because it was a sequel to a book I’d already written, but it kind of didn’t work out the best. I reached the 50,000 word mark but my stuff is all over the place, so I feel like I burned out on it because of that. I’m trying to outline a little more with this go-round.

I totally get that. This is my third Nano and I totally agree. Grade in Red had a great premise, but I did not plan everything out the way I should have and I got lost in my own world and story.

I also find it easier for me to use handwriting when I'm first figuring out my story. I consider myself a planster... I kind of right out the idea of the story without any kind of outline. I also think that I write better dialogue when I hand-write. There are times when I write entire scenes or chapters by hand and then I use dragon natural speech to turn it to text.

That's the work I was looking for PLANSTER! That is totally me. I agree with writing out the main plots by hand and then later transferring it to the computer. You'd be amazing at how much you actually get done.
