As always your reactions are enjoyable and love the interaction between you and you child. It looks like Leona is a real music lover. She is very attentive looking at the screen as the music is playing. Looks like a really great baby and mostly happy. As Courtney grows older and learns more from her vocal coach you can hear her passion that she always has had blend in now with more dynamics, subtleties and nuances. She turning into a very seasoned vocalist. She could always entertain an audience live on stage. That's her 1st love I think. But now she can also draw in people who would not have normally listened to her. She will only get better and better because of her work ethic and love for music. And she has what most other singers lack, "Real desire and PASSION". Can't wait for the last one on her Vevo channel. Hopefully?

Bert Painter I don’t Comment often but I enjoyed your comments and I agree with you. I love her story and at 15 she’s already found her passion in life and the intelligence, courage and discipline to follow her dreams. I don’t know a lot about the technique of singing but that’s ok. I’m going to be 74 shortly and she just seems to touch my soul. I could listen to her all day. thanks again and have a good day

@@DBian151 It was nice that you left this comment. I used to not comment much until I started listening to Courtney a few years ago. She has something that makes a lot of people happy listening to music. For us old school fans her talent has brought a lot of us back to listening to new music again. I've always been involved playing or recording music by myself or with friends, but now I enjoy listening to Courtney remake a cover that suits a style I would listen to. I find myself following a few other young talents on KZbin like Angelina Jordan and Liliac. They are all so different, but they all have that wow factor.

This is a great reaction, Petra. When Courtney sings (rather than spends her energy bouncing and losing all melodic quality) she excels. She has both power and softness in her voice. She can be great if she continues to add melody to her singing. I love your more emotional reactions like this one. And a great big HI to Lovely Leona.
@bertpainter83855 жыл бұрын
What you say Wayne may be true for you. And I respect that, but for many many others, Courtney has the whole package. Both moving on stage while belting (not screaming) and also singing with passion on both ballads and more uptempo songs. Melodic is in all styles. I've been involved with music for just about 50 years now, and I can assure you that you'll find melodic styles in all music. Melodic is more about staying within the chord structures of the songs. Not so much about singing softly or pretty as she has done so here. I hope you respect my opinion also. She has something for everyone, just as many artist have songs we like and dislike throughout the years. That's what I like about some of these newer younger artist. They've look back in time and now pick and choose what they like and incorporate it into their own style of singing. Courtney has dared to go further back in time and used techniques that most artist would not choose and that's what separates her from others. She has found her niche and will probably continue to do more. Some things, people will like and some not.

Hi Wayne. All due respect to your opinion, but I feel that in any genre, Courtney is simply the best, whether it be Rock, R&B, Funk, Soul or Ballads. It is that vocal versatility that makes her so great. You are correct that this is a great performance and Courtney excels in this style of song, but IMO, the same applies to the rocker Courtney. Honestly, she could sing the phonebook and do it better than anyone else on the planet.

Very distinctive vocals she has. It's something that we rarely see today. There are so many great singers today but very few are also unique such as Courtney is. I'm sorry to say, but a lot of singers sound alike in today's music. But what's really impressive about Courtney is she not only has a beautiful and unique voice, but she performs on stage like few others can. She's has that look of a star and she know how to react when the camera is focused on her. She looks into your eyes while looking into the camera. Check this video out to see exactly what I mean. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnPUYWl5fKx3qpI She brings you along for the ride as she performs. This is actually a great video for another reaction is you miss reacting to her. But my real reason for posting was to give another suggestion of Courtney for you to hopefully react to. You missed 2 videos from her Vevo channel. I'm hoping you'll give them a try and do another reaction or 2 to Courtz. "Sucker" by the Jonas Bros. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3eYZJqhjpV9n68 "Old Town Road" by Little Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5_apZpqeJWDisU Both of these covers, she completely reinvents them as she usually does and makes them much better than the originals. And both of these original songs were #1 hits for a while and extremely popular. Yet most everyone that has heard Courtney do them thinks she did it better her way. Just Amazing what a 14 year old at the time did in these 2. These are more uptempo covers done her way.

So nice, I like her soft songs much more than the "hard screaming songs". Part of the emotions are maybe caused (I am not an expert at all...) because this girl is knowing the language since her birth and therefore knows exactly what she is singing about. I don't necessarily know exactly how she does it, but no one can pack a song with as much emotion as Courtney. She has the ability to make the pain feel so raw and fresh that it is almost as if the core of her soul is communicating directly with the core of your soul. Many people have tried to compare Courtney with Janis Joplin and those comparisons are so unfair to Courtney. They sound nothing alike, Courtney has never wanted to be the next Janis Joplin and frankly, from the point of view of pure singing ability, I think Courtney is much better. However, Janis is the only person that comes to mind that had a similar ability to infuse a song with a comparable level of passion, heartache and angst as Courtney can.
@BrianJoslyn5 жыл бұрын
There actually is similarities of Janis and Courtney. Even Howie Mandel mentioned it. There's absolutely nothing unfair involved. Not that it matters, other than the similarities being as similar as they are, but I don't like Janis' vocals - and - I don't like Courtney's vocals, much. Thus far, Courtney has done ONE cover I actually like. She did it on AGT and is the only one time I voted for her. I've heard a couple/few originals of hers which I like more, but not enough to pay to see her live or to buy her albums.
@edwarddevogelear44325 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion Brian, but that's where our views diverge. I view Courtney as a transcendent talent the likes of which only comes along once or twice every generation and I believe that one day in the future we will be speaking of her in the same reverential tones reserved for only the all time greats of the music industry such as Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley, etc. Yes, there are times, in certain songs, that I hear similarities to Janis Joplin, but Courtney has such a wide range in her vocal talents that there are also times I hear similarities to many other artists. Ultimately, Courtney is unique and I think she sounds like no one else other than the first Courtney Hadwin.
@BrianJoslyn5 жыл бұрын
You obviously failed to correctly comprehend what I said, followed by insisting what you claim to be facts when the fact is your facts are your "opinion." "Opinion," that of which I did not communicate. Not only did I communicate my PREFERENCE(S), I also communicated actual facts that do indeed exist. You even backed it up with your own words, quoting you... "...there are times, in certain songs, that I hear similarities to Janis Joplin..." So, you even lied in the very beginning of your reply. If "our views diverge," then you wouldn't hear any Janis in Courtney at all.
@edwarddevogelear44325 жыл бұрын
Brian Joslyn That’s fine. Pick and choose the part of the response you feel like responding to. I said that our views diverge. You don’t like Courtney very much, I said I think she is the talent of this generation and will be one day considered among the greatest of all time. I would consider that a divergence of views. You said she and Janis are similar, I said There are times I hear similarities to Janis in some songs but also times I hear similarities to many other singers. That means I don’t hear anymore of Janis in Courtney’s songs than I hear of many other singers. I also said Courtney is unique and is like no one but herself. Nope. I think I understood you quite clearly and also I quite clearly stated that I disagreed and thought your opinion was wrong. BTW, be curious what facts you stated. Howie’s statement is no less of an opinion than any one else’s and I generally don’t go around calling other people liars without any substantiation. I tried to be respectful of your views in my response. It clearly was not worth the effort to do so as you obviously don’t feel the need to return such courtesies.
@BrianJoslyn5 жыл бұрын
What's with the disrespect? I've not done any 'pick and choose' at all. I replied to the relevant, avoiding to say more than necessary. I happen to value my time. It's obvious you not only fail to correctly comprehend what I've said. Although I slightly previously misstated, you've insisted I said things I never said - and you even said you said things you didn't say. I never said there's no others Courtney is similar to. In your initial comment, you strictly mentioned Janis Joplin as a similarity to Courtney. You also said, quoting... "They sound nothing alike..." referring strictly to similarity of Courtney and Janis. Yet, you later said Courtney does sound like Janis, in certain songs, and also sounds like others. So, you said Courtney sounds NOTHING like Janis, but later said she does when singing certain songs. I know, factually, you did not 'understand' what I said, especially not "quite clearly." I also stated, quite clearly, that I did NOT communicate ANY "opinion." Yet you continue to incorrectly claim otherwise. Before you reply, correctly comprehend. Realize everything relevant, not just some of it. Just one sentence is not always everything that's relevant. I happen to always realize everything said and correctly communicate in response, adding more if/when needed, or ignoring what doesn't need to be included/considered.

She gave it too much. This song does not need a raspy scream, or any scream really. Parts can be hit more heavy or harder, but not like she does.
@rickrhoden15 жыл бұрын
Fortunately, BJ, the vast majority of commenters do not agree with you. And what is frequently mislabeled as a scream is the vocal technique of distortion mastered by Courtney. Rasp, growl, gravelly, throaty, husky are good descriptors of this distortion that delivers the powerful emotion that Petra and 98% of Courtney viewers feel and appreciate. If you want to hear one of Courtney's rare true screams, listen to her version of Little Piece of My Heart toward the end.
@BrianJoslyn5 жыл бұрын
"Fortunately" is absolutely false. There's NOTHING 'fortunate' about your claim. Plenty commenters have commented similarly, implying not liking her. There's no 'mislabeling' involved. It's a raspy scream and at least one other person has stated it as such. It has also been stated as a growl, which I have stated as such as well. I really don't care what others have said. I stated MY PREFERENCE and it remains as such.
@rickrhoden15 жыл бұрын
@@BrianJoslyn It may not be fortunate for you, but it most definitely is for me, Courtney and her fans. Your preference is fine, but, again, it's fortunate for most of us that we belong to the 90-98% likes that Courtney consistently polls; we're satisfied with those remarkable numbers!
@BrianJoslyn5 жыл бұрын
FACT: The ONLY "fortunate" thing about it lies strictly with those that like her MUCH more than those such as me do. There are also people that don't like her AT ALL. Your "most of us" claim strictly includes those that like her - MUCH more than those such as me do. There is no specific number of people that like her - MUCH more than those such as me - but it's likely not even half of the population of the planet. Not everyone that likes her - even MUCH more than those such as me - likes how she has done every single cover she has done. So, according to you and your numbers... I would be in the 2%-10%. I like her originals, with specific exceptions. FYI: DO NOT call me "BJ." I've not referred to you, EVER, as your initials - because you have you name showing, first and last - unless, it's an alias name you're using. Either way, I've strictly only ever respectfully referred to you as "Rick" - so you can respectfully refer to me as "Brian."
