Michigan called a time out within the first 30 seconds of the game, but the refs didn't notice, and blew the whistle for delay of game. (Or so I've been told.) Also, this is a yearly game, and you should check out Nittanyville, where students camp outside the stadium in order to secure seats. Also, the stadium is smaller than it used to be when the stadium was retrofitted to be ADA compliant.

Fellow fans, you saw me manning the visiting team gate at gate c for the last 5 years as a Whelan event staff. I loved every single second of working inside. Granted it was exhausting. And my position at gate c would physically and mentally drain most people. I reveled in it. I was charged with handling security for all visiting teams. In addition, I worked with all our event staff. Nothing will ever duplicate this experience. If u rode the handicap carts through tunnel at sections wc lower level. I was the big guy w booming voice yelling " clear out !!!! Cart coming through!!!" I also locked down the gates. Amazing experience!!! I miss my time at the university. No happier place than beaver stadium!!°° we are !!!.. anybody here have seson tickets in WE NE NC sections??? U saw me on the visiting team gate

Thanks for reviewing this game. As a season ticket holder, I was at that game and if you get a chance in the future, please take the opportunity to visit Penn State for a White-Out game. Watching the game on a computer may give you an impression of what goes on during these events, but it is not possible to fully understand the magnitude of the noise and emotion that is going on. It is like being physically part of a living organism. The stadium actually pulsates and it is impossible to carry on a conversation. It is the epitome of college football. You really have to try it.

As an Ohio State fan I have a dislike for state Penn. That said, likely the best home field advantage in sport. The stories I have heard from ohio state players and coaches about how loud it gets there. The loudest recorded db there is 122db. For a reference, sound that causes physical pain starts at 125db. I find it hard to believe they haven't surpassed 125... I've heard stories about guys thinking a fan was behind them which was blowing against them moving their clothing. Only to find out there was no fan, it was just the noise of the crowd doing it. Stories about guys helmets vibrating while wearing them. Big props to their fans for creating that atmosphere, white outs are impressive 👍

Penn State's my alma mater! They started the white outs after I had been there. However my Dad goes to all the home games (pre-COVID). It is not unusual to be hoarse after a White Out game. The crowd is loud the entire time. It's also registered as some of the loudest games (if you look up decibels for football games). This first play is probably my favorite. The crowd was so loud, Michigan had to take a time out because the team couldn't hear the quarter back.

NOW if only PSU can find someone that can "game day coach" (I like Franklin otherwise - rebuilt the program!) and an offensive coordinator the likes of Joe Moorhead, maybe PSU will win 11 or 12 games a year instead of the usual 9.

A bit of trivia . I have a mountain cabin, way back in the forest. I go there to be in nature's quiet, except on Penn state Saturdays. I can hear that crowd at my cabin like it's a neighbor's high school graduation party. That's 25 miles away, sounds like 25 feet.

When the Quebec Nordiques were in the NHL before moving to Denver and becoming the Colorado Avalanche, Le Colisee would have whiteout nights where all the fans would be in white. This would be done especially when they played the Montreal Canadiens, their archrivals from the same province.

Penn. State has the 2nd biggest stadium in American College Football behind The University of Michigan. The craziest and loudest stadium in all of American sports is probably Texas A&M University's stadium "Kyle Field"
