Keep in mind with the local rivalries like the Florida teams or the Mississippi programs sometimes the players grew up together as rivals and then just went to rival schools and one day it just all finally boils over lol

A lot of these were between conference and/or state rivals, and those games almost always end up in "extra-curricular activity" (that's a common term in these situations). I was surprised, though, that some of these fights were between teams that rarely even play each other. That last one was during pre-game warmups! I LOVE college football!!!!

When an opposing team wins at certain stadiums, it is considered an insult to celebrate on their field. That's why sometimes you will see fights. Especially if you celebrate on the teams emblem at the middle of the field.

In a very close game between the University of Michigan Wolverines coached by legendary coach Bo Schembectler against the Ohio State University Buckeyes coached by an equally famous coach Woody Hayes, a Wolverine intercepted the ball and was running down the field along the OSU bench, Woody Hayes was so infuriated that he came onto the playing field and clothslined the player. It ended Woody's coaching life.

I was at the Miami - SDSU game / bench cleaner in 1990 and 1991 one. Rock was playing for Miami then. Miami was ranked #1 or 2 and we were high 20’s... but should have won the game. Kicker missed 2 easy 15 yard kicks and we lost 28-31. Would have been a huge upset. A Miami helmet flew into the middle of the field and my buddy ran out an snatched it. Lol. Sat on our fridge. Marshall Faulk was at SDSU at the tine and would come by to play blades of steel - won’t say for what.... but he never won. Pull the goalie - still win lol. Not sure what happen to Dan McGuire. Brother did well in baseball. Had all the attributes of the modern day QB. 6’5”. Etc.

Ppl really underestimate how effective punching/slapping/swiping a helmet can be. Its disorienting AF. Definitely rings something in your head. When u hit the face mask it spins your helmet and can possibly spin it so far the side of the helmet is covering the front of your face. It definitely does something when done right. But these fights are literally football hits with punches and no rules and a lot more bodies.

I know I’m late on this vid Courtney and others, but when I was a sophomore basketball player we brawled like this but had to be escorted out of our game in NJ by North Bergen police, state police, and school security after a brawl resulted in numerous ejections for my team and minimal for north Bergen (whom initiated the brawl)

High School football gives career suspension for fighting now whether or not you started it or involvement in a fight one the field could mean you don't get drafted so if you want to play at higher level you don't get involved, but it doesn't stop a war

I am UF alumni but, on defense of the Seminoles and this is probably the only time I will defend the Seminoles, it's freaking hot in Florida and football has changed the point that it's soft. When these guys get riled up, they have no place to put their anger. We used to have guys like Refrigerator Perry, Lou Alzado, Herschel Walker, Etc... They placed the rage right on the Gridiron! Edit: ( both Florida State University and the University of Florida absolutely despise LSU and roll tide! So there's that. Ancient rivalries will play out from time to time!)
