How about the billions of dollars that the government bailed out financial institutions in 2008?? And every time there is a disaster?? We accepted those situations so other Americans could get on with their life. Student loan (interest payment) forgiveness gives those 414,000 taxpayers a leg up to buy a house, have a child, start a business...

@@Flash3-22 I went to trade school. No one gave me a leg up. I paid off my student loan. I had to buy all of the tools of my trade, support my family, and eventually buy a house, and I never had a new car. Nobody gave me a leg up, or a free ride. I had to earn everything. Life doesn't owe you anything.

I went to trade school after high school and got an associates degree. I paid off my student loans. Why should I pay for someone else to go school, just because they picked a major like black studies, or gender studies?

Ask these students when and where will it stop. At what point are the students who make bad decisions going to pay for their mistakes? These kids are allowed way too much freedom to think they are not obligated to pay back their loans.
