I knew if I made a lot of noise when I was being abused I would be hurt more . I stayed quiet when I was being abused because it made her happy to know she was hurting me . I was also told if I told my dad she would kill him . For a long time I didn't say anything. When I got older I realized my dad was a lot bigger than her and could take care of himself. When I was 44 years old I was diagnosed with cancer the Doctor wanted me to have a full body MRI scan . After the scan they started asking questions that I didn't understand why they were asking them . I was informed that they had found 27 old broken bones in my body . Some had healed ok but some hadn't. 9 were ribs 1 was a scull fracture some were arms some were legs 3 were my left hand . The skull features were from being hit in the head with a baseball bat that was witnessed by 2 adults looking out there kitchen window . The person who did it walked around the house and got in her car and left . One of the men called the police and an ambulance the fire department showed up first . I was told that because I was unconscious. It turned out the ambulance was on another call . So I was taken to the hospital in the firetruck . I was unconscious for about 2 weeks . When I woke up my dad was by my side . After a few days I got to go home on medication for seizures. Which was caused by a traumatic brain injury . I deal with that to this day . That what happens when you are abused .

it happens in Canada too and it’s disgusting. The same thing happened to me, it’s a long story but my now teen child has so many issues. I tried so hard to teach her all the things she was lacking, needed, and necessary life skills and lessons for the future. To love her and also be “the parent” he was not being. She was free to roam at all hours and do as she pleased. My rules and responsibilities seemed so terrible to her at this time, she hated it and we clashed, until February. My beautiful daughter made a serious attempt to take her own life. Everything changed that day, I changed the way I parent, how I communicate with her and how I understand her. Thankfully we are so much closer today. Kids need guidance, rules and boundaries. They need parents to love and nurture them, not be their friends!!

This question is for Dante Mills. Would you force your child to run on a treadmill and then when he falls off because he can't physically run anymore at the high speed his father was forcing him to run on, would you pick him back up and throw him back on over and over again? You're absolutely correct. That being said, mu son ran on our home treadmill all the time just because he had ADHD and couldnt sit still. Of course, we never made him sprint to the point he was flung off. And anyone who has ever used a treadmill knows fhat you start with your feet on the side and use the safety clip that will stop the treadmill if you somehow you do fall off. But I gatta be real here, the falls weren't nearly as bad as I expected them to be. Its never how Id treat my children and the dad definitely earns "🍆 of the year" award, but the tumbles on the treadmill certainly didn't kill the child. Something else did. Was it sepsis or did Dad do something to Corey after he got home that final evening? There's something we are missing here.

They think a father figure is important even though he had not bonded with the child in his first years or pay for the birth. He was, I think they said, a teacher for urban centers and they say they want men to teach and be father figures. This man should know something about child development and that a child should not be bullied and forced on a treadmill. The fact that the families were fighting, and the mother and father of the child had a bad or non-existent relationship didn't seem to matter to the courts. Poor child. Maybe he was angry that he was asked to pay a pittance of child support and he set out to punish the mother and the child.

Corey contracted pneumonia from the abuse that was inflicted on him from the treadmill incident 12 days earlier. Several infections that were caused from liver and heart lacerations, led to pneumonia. Sepsis set in from the pneumonia, which was caused by the treadmill abuse. Dad is a murderer, point blank. Sweet Corey did not die from natural causes, anyone with an ounce of common sense could figure it out. I hope the defendant gets life in prison without parole. It may have not been intentional in the moment, but the defendant would have eventually killed Corey. The fact that the defendant has a Master’s in Education from John Hopkins and was a Teacher and Crisis Counselor, made it clear to me why the court gave him full custody over the Mother who’s a Meth user. What’s sad is she tried to do the right thing for her son during her struggles to get better, and was not believed when she reported this Monster in sheep’s clothing about the abuse. I’m shocked that his background and education has not been mentioned by Court TV, it would give viewers a lot more insight into why the judge kept denying the Mother’s claims, just looking at the parties backgrounds, poor Corey didn’t have a chance.

Happens all the time. I’m in Canada but after my kids DB was absent for 3 years he was given every weekend. My sons were born premature. One has a trach and feeding tube. He wasn’t present for the entire time they were in hospital and has no knowledge of how to care for either of them. Judge just handed them over. I’m just waiting for the day I get a bad phone call. 😢. The risk is very real Family courts need to start being held accountable for this crap. People need to start standing together against them

This boy lived with his mother for 5 years, without incident. Chris resented Corey because he had plans to be a teacher and it’s his parents that wanted custody of him, pushing him to have him. They stole him from this mother. And now he’s dead. I’m glad Chris will never be a teacher after this. This would have happened to another child if not Corey. His parents refuse to watch the treadmill video because they don’t want to see the truth, that their son is an evil and violent sadist.

It's odd to me because my home state (VA) is very mother favorable. It's actually very difficult for a father to get majority custody. I wonder for this particular case, if it's optics. He's a white male. And we have psychopathic judgemental people out there believing that a white male is the superior being.

There is no reason to anyway. We all know children get plenty of exercise being the little freaks that they are. They never stop moving. Further, it wasn't just a guy having time with his kid where he helped him walk on a slow mill for a few minutes. The film shows that poor little guy being horribly mistreated.

I'm not disagreeing. He's 100% a man-child who bullied that little baby and called it "making him a man." But I do have serious questions about why the mom kept checking the child out of the hospital even after they warned her they suspected sepsis. What would ever make you AMA your child when the doctor tells you he needs to stay for treatment?! I think the truth is going to be found in the middle-- he is guilty of child abuse, and she is guilty of medical neglect; between the two, his little body gave up 😢

1:18 It's frightening that this commentator Defense Attorney Dante Mills actually stated that pushing a SIX year old that fast for that long on a treadmill, PLUS, AFTER this baby falls on his face and chest, this MONSTER repeatedly put him on WHILE it was still moving at that same fast pace (equipment rule NOT to do!)?! If I saw that treadmill incident, even if the kid only fell hard ONCE, I would report ignorance, abuse, and child endangered. Court TV, thank you for exposing people who believe how horribly they can treat children (6YO?!). I have been shocked with so many child abuse death cases being the result of cumulative wacko discipline beliefs like ice baths, holding their arms out for hours, or restricting food. Hopefully people will learn what NOT to do and we can develop healthier adults to break the cycle.
