Something that I’m confused about is when the mother of the baby was testifying, she said that she barely left her infant daughter with her mother. She stated she always had her with her at work and made it seem like this incident was a rare occurrence… but when grandpa was on the stand right after, he testified that they watched the baby regularly at least 2-5 times a week. Those are two wildly different testimonies.

The jury believed that she truly forgot. In order for it to rise to the level of manslaughter, she had to have made a choice to act recklessly. Did she leave the baby in the car? Yes. Guilty. idk, if it's true that in the first tragedy (the first grandchild's death), that it was the grandfather who left the house without bothering to wake up the sleeping grandmother that he was leaving her alone with the sleeping baby grandchild, that seems to be more the grandfather's fault. Of course i have no idea of the actual facts, but that's what info i've seen. It could be why the baby's mother then trusted her mother to watch this baby who tragically died under the care of the grandmother. But now the baby's mother is questioning that first tragedy and now wants that case reopened. It's all very sad for everyone and very confusing.

@@kc-wk1kz I agree. It is very confusing - we only have the Grandparents word for what happened to the little boy, and how he got to the pond and drowned. That may be excused, but 'forgetting" you had your grandchild in the car is bizarre!! She has been cleared of having any form of issues with her mental faculties, so she just flat out forgot - OR - she could have deliberately left the child sleeping in the car, with intentions of getting her out when she woke up, but got distracted and THEN forgot all about her. I tend to think its the later. I have heard of many cases where parents leave children because they are sleeping, not wanting to wake them up and have them tired and grumpy, and that is just so selfish. There was the case of the Dad who did this constantly !!!

If Grandma is getting senile, that is not a crime, but having a lack of discretion and failing to use common sense judgement to protect your child IS a crime Parents can be found guilty of.! How 'bout looking into why the daught left her baby with Grandma after the first incident. Grandma tried to tell her daughter she had a luncheon to attend. However, the daughter wanted 'me' time at the hairdressers. Then, after her 75 min appointment, the daughter didn't go back to pick up her baby from Mum's. Instead, she drove straight home and waited for her husband to collect her, hours later. Tragic!

My toddler daughter fell down some stairs while under her grandmothers care. She damaged her teeth and gums badly when she fell. She cried her eyes out and couldn't stop apologising to me when she told me what happened. my daughter was an adventurous child and was always into everything but my M-I-L was hyper vigilant with her after that fall. She never took her eyes off her when she was in her care and there was never an accident with any of her grandkids on her watch again. How this woman can lose two babies in her care smacks to me of total negligence not just a moment of forgetfullness.

My children are grown and I am not used to having to check and remind myself of baby things, so I can see (in some sense) how that can happen. HOWEVER, after the first incident, I would think she would have a system for this not to happen-AGAIN! She could have placed Post-It Notes everywhere, set alarms, SOMETHING!! Ok now that I've read the account of the grandchild who drowned, I also think she should have been found guilty. HOWEVER, the jury didn't get to hear about that (!) and is it possible they simply disagreed that the hot car is what caused Uriel's death?? Still have to watch Day 2 and see if the defense proposed a different cause of death, but this does not feel like justice for those babies. So very, very sad. Still not sure I agree she should have been instantly remanded, particularly since the prosecution deferred to the defense's recommendation. Heartbreaking all around.

@@sheilarainey218 She’s probably heavily medicated. The judge allowed her to undergo mental health treatment. Her husband begged the judge to not order her inpatient, but unsupervised by the court. So, Tracy was out of jail, not committed to an inpatient facility. Ney, took her to appointments and had to report to the judge every so often. So, I’m sure she’s on some heavy medications. This woman caught all the breaks. But, I hope the prosecutor files charges in the first child’s death. Then perhaps justice can be served for those babies.

I understand that the question would be why leave the second child with the grandmother after the first grandsons death. I believe the daughter was told that the grandson did wander down to the pond while the grandmother was asleep and if you haven’t had a bad experiences with your mother while growing up , then I guess you would except this wasn’t malicious. But she did say that she hadn’t left her children with her mother unsupervised. This was the first time since the death of her son. And she thought friends of her mothers were there too which made her think it would be alright. I think its hard when you believe your mother is a good woman and ex teacher that it could of been a tragic accident but she also didn’t know the details of the first death because she was pregnant and didn’t want to chance a miscarriage. Maybe she didn’t want to face the truth about her mother. Maybe she felt her mother had some vagueness to her and felt her children were unsafe. But this time felt people were around and an extra set of eyes.

My mom, god rest her soul, was glued to my babies when she watched them. She treasured and lived for the chance to spend time with them. If they were with her she was with them, watching cartoons with them, making cookies either them, cuddling them when they napped, doing sets and crafts… she didn’t have them over and go lay down and nap or practice her personal hobbies ie piano. It was all about the kids. I think this lady was detached from the children. She don’t enjoy their company and she was checked out of the responsibility of caring for them. Something has to be wrong her. She should be punished. The mother must be in agony.

I don’t understand how these parents cannot feel a little bit of responsibility for the fact that they have two children dead, the first child drowning OK you could say that was an accident, but why would you put your next child in the hands of this person, who obviously is not responsible. These parents have said that they feel she should have been charged or have been held accountable for the first child’s death and then you go ahead and let her watch another child isn’t that on them as well as this mother this grandmother I don’t understand that there would not have been a shot in hell that I would’ve let her watch another child of mine

I don’t understand how grandma could be with her granddaughter for at least an hour, take an appx 10 minute drive, and forget the baby, and not get convicted of the higher charge, while another Florida woman, the babysitter, picked up the baby she was babysitting, drove appx 10 minutes, she also “forgot” the baby, she was found guilty and received 17 years, I think??? Grandma was with her granddaughter way longer than the babysitter, and gets off almost scott free?? Why? Cause she wanted the jury to believe she’s a church goer?? Complete BS. This is why Lady Justice wears a blindfold. Good thing I was not the baby’s parent. I would be the next one going before a jury, and with pleasure. God bless the parents, losing not one, but two children by the same grandmother?????

Both of this lady’s daughters took advantage of 2 older people to try and save a dollar. They should not have been used to babysit multiple grandchildren at their age. They raised their children. The daughters and their husbands should raise their own kids.

Not sure how they didn't find her guilty of manslaughter, but my guess is because she was a relation to the victim. They just had a similar case where the babysitter had done the exact same thing, and she was found guilty.
