The "state" didn't. It was a judge. A republican judge appointed by a stand in republican governor around 2001. He was about to retire, and he decided to really "stick it" to the liberals of Massachusetts. ALL the attorneys involved in the case from the state, everybody involved in the case from DFS, the birth mother, the foster mother, the guardian ad litem, everybody objected to his decision. But he was really BIG on "family values". And he didn't approve of "big government interfering in personal lives of citizens". OH, and he wanted to show how he hated that "men were having taken away their right to be the head of their family." He refused to ever LOOK at Adam Montgomery's police record, all the 20 years of it - including multiple violent crimes, including using knives and guns. He shot a man IN THE HEAD. But the man lived, because the bullet deflected off a bone in his face and went out through his cheek on the other side of his face. Though that was an accident. Montgomery was shot on that little event as well. But being the unkillable freak of addiction he is (he seems to metabolize heroin into muscle), he didn't even go for treatment. They needed to call out the US Marshalls to find him. He is also the prime suspect in a murder that took place in Revere, Mass. It took that judge, and Montgomery to kill this tiny girl in less than a year between them. Two total arseholes who hold similar views on many matters.

Her mom was in another courtroom in the adoption hearing for Harmony’s little brother. The judge decided to hand her to Adam instead of postponing the hearing until Crystal could be there. Btw, the men who adopted the baby boy, wanted to adopt Harmony too, but it was too late. Adam already had her.

When Adam is complaining because they are looking for Harmony that just shows his guilt. He was probably afraid that they might find some of her remains. This reminds me of the Summer Wells case because both of her parents seem suspicious to me and the father said something similar to what Adam said like why are you looking for her. And they refused to let them search a shed on their property. If you were innocent you would let them search and these parents dont seem to care at all. 100 percent guilty if you ask me. Why should his uncle be charged?? His uncle was the one who was ringing the bell. His uncle is the one who pushed for someone to find Harmony. His uncle called the police or DCF, but I can't remember which one. His uncle was the one who kept pushing even though the police weren't listening to him. I remember seeing him on an interview talking about how Harmony has been missing. Everyone else, including the judge that gave Harmoney to the beast, should be in prison. His uncle and Harmony's bio mom were the only 2 people who were actively looking for her for 2 years.

Uncle said he called Child services, told his mom and family members and bio called child services, someone else and the mayor but not the police……why? Now child services didn’t do their job, people who seen bruises and did nothing are POS and the judge who gave harmony to the monster all should be responsible. But the uncle and bio won’t be charged but they should have called police. Bio didn’t report her missing for a year and a half? They all failed but Adam should never ever get out, Kayla has a deal but should be accountable for aiding and abetting. So very sad

I don't understand why the state has to/wants to always put the children back with their biological parents if those biological parents are NOT FIT in the very slightest to be good parents to their children. If they have harmed or abused the kids repeatedly. For some of these children, it ends up being a death sentence. If they're better off with adoptive or foster parents, then so be it!

I’m kind of concerned the evidence isn’t that enormous 😢 this poor baby deserves so much! No body, not a lot of dna/forensic evidence, physical evidence is none existent. All I keep hearing is we didn’t find any evidence or nothing found on the search. Don’t get me wrong I hear what everyone is saying “work of mouth” but so many witnesses we could have heard from and we didn’t….idk nothing could fix this situation it’s just horrible 💔

You must have watched a different closing argument then. 99% people in the comments agreed that Prosecutor Agati did an outstanding job. Anyway, now it is up to the jurors. (I think the prosecutors know what they are doing regarding calling witnesses. Adam's father was supposed to testify, but he took his own life this past weekend.)

I heard states closing and I’m sorry to say I don’t believe Kayla (she was involved more) and that’s the only evidence they had “word of mouth” and one board with her dna. Adam’s dad wouldn’t have said anything anyways he was still in communication with Adam. Obviously they both need to be locked up for murder so don’t get me wrong this case is horrific. I wish they found harmony!

I don’t think they are dragging this case out. This case started in 2019 so there was a lot of investigation that needed to be done and I think they have done a rather fast job considering all that had to be done to get it to trial. And the state rested their case yesterday morning.

Harmony actually didnt4have any problems until she was given to AM. Her foster mother said she was fully potty trained and meeting all of her milestones. Seems likely she was terrified of her father from pretty early and hence the problems. Like that would be a bigger problem when they were living in their car.

The uncle stated Adam told him, he bashed her around the house because she had her hand over her baby brothers mouth. She was scared, frightened and when they became evicted it got worse. If they knew she had an issue why didn't they get her pull-ups or have a bathroom schedule for her. Their drug habit was more important to them. Trash, just trash. My cousin who's about 3years younger than me had this. I remember vividly when we were kids, his alcoholic father lashing the legs off him because he had an accident. He was so scary honestly! My aunt divorced him eventually and became a single Mum of 8. Now as an adult and mother, I see him for the pathetic, spineless cretin that he is. I was petrified of him and my cousins had it awful. Now he gets to be excluded and die alone, probably drunk and ironically, in a puddle of his own piss!!!
