Just because that woman had a prescription for pain meds doesn't mean she was an addict. Many people with health issues take pain meds, and get blamed for people who abuse meds, so much so that they cant get the actual health care they need!

I was prescribed literally 8 pills after toe surgery and was soooo judged when picking it up. It got me through a week and I was still in so much pain. I see how it can be addictive but the doctor was super cautious about it and I def felt judged lol
@tamarinbush661310 ай бұрын
I know every year I have a drug test and every 3 months I see my doctor. For the first 2 years trying to figure out what was going on, I still couldn’t get any pain relief. I go to 1 doctor, my primary for everything and then my rheumatologist for a checkup and see what progression the disease is taking or am I stable. For a bit there it sounded like they weren’t going to treat any chronic pain. Luckily I am open with my doctor. Go to whatever testing I need to and all my records are together so if I’m in the hospital they see it. If I go to my primary everyone can see it. Just recently I learned I may have been misdiagnosed. Instead of having psoriatic arthritis and osteoarthritis. I may have EDS that has now manifested into osteoarthritis. And it could explain a lot of my secondary symptoms (IBS, migraine, etc).
@Bearwithme56010 ай бұрын
America is the most Puritanical country on earth. Pull yourself up by your bootstraps; early to bed & early to rise, losers!; if you have debilitating pain just suck it up. This intolerance for weakness is baffling. The war on drugs (only in America) added to the problem of the illicit drug trade whilst penalizing people in pain. They don't discern the difference between dependence - such as diabetics who depend on insulin or they will die - and addiction, which in itself is still an illness. Such an intolerant, mean-spirited culture.

Oh I have venous insufficiency (EDS) so yeah weird being diagnosed at 48. About 10 to 15 years ago my bones started showing signs of osteoarthritis.
