I know there’s tons of comments already about moonsilver key I just wanted to add my piece, while a 3 mana tutor isn’t great I still think it’s definitely worth considering in Red/White decks due to the lack of tutors for mana rocks in those colors, red has Goblin Engineer and White has Enlightened tutor (40$ oof) but outside of that you’re not gonna find good tutors for rocks. Even still Goblin engineer is a 3 mana investment as well and has to have an artifact already out to swap with. This feels completely viable in mono white and maybe red/white. Worst case scenario this is a 4 mana sol ring.

Torens, fist of angels is like a better Maja, Bretaguard protector that costs 2 less to cast, so of course I put them both in: he's a 2/2 with training and every time you cast a creature spell, you crate a 1/1 human soldier with training. (and you can get him for under a dollar)

I got this Precon somewhere around mid-May, two days ago I finished upgrading it following your list. And boy, now this deck absolutely slaps! I went with almost all of your cards, changing only about 5 slots. Let me know what do you think (Bateman_business_cards.mp4): I ditched the Diligent Farmhand, Kamahl, Heart of Krosa and Ranger of Eos for Guardian Project, Torens, fist of Angels and Guardian of Faith 1) Guardian Project I had laying around to put into another deck one day, but this deck is THE deck for it, here it has text "always have a full grip at any time" 2) Torens, Fist of Angels is cheap enough to be cool, we can find it with those lancers tutor girls, he can grow and also makes dudes that can grow whenever we cast creatures 3) Guardian of Faith - while not a hyumaaaan, it has flash and can protect our dudes from exile-based board wipes, which time and time again proves to be huge game against those decks running Farewell I also changed two cards, one from precon and one of your choices. 4) instead of Gyre Sage I put in Incubation Druid. both are mana elves, but Incubation Druid always taps for 1 mana of ANY of our colors and with just a low low investment of one commander trigger it turns into basically another, unrestricted Somberwald Sage 5) Augur of Autumn instead of Realmwlaker. She lets us play lands off the top, and with Coven she lets us play ANY creatures off the top too. And it cost about the same to buy too

I slightly disagree about Moonsilver Key because recent mana rocks have really interesting upsides. For example, I've been particularly impressed of how good and scary is Strishaven stadium in a matter of just one or two rotations

Moonsilver key is definitely an option that is better in Non-green decks. Im running it in my Feldon/Darreti deck so it can get sol ring, caged sun, and semi repeatable with goblin welder

It can't fetch caged sun unfortunately. Caged sun passively gives you more mana, it doesn't have a mana ability itself :(

@@krypto32123 the one and only ruling on Caged Sun directly states it's a mana ability. Mana ability are both actived abilities that produce mana AND triggered abilities that trigger off mana production and produces more mana.

I think the main strength of Moonsilver key comes in non-green artifact-based decks with a bit of artifact recursion such as Goblin Welder/ Goblin Engineer (so... most artifact-based decks.) Because yeah, a 3 mana tutor is pretty meh, but 4 mana to tutor 2 mana rocks/ utility artifacts/ sac outlets? A bit better. 5 mana for 3 of your best setup/ combo piece artifacts is where it is just gravy, because it's only one card slot that you can deploy by turn 2 and got you 3 tutors over the course of a game, and that's probably where you stop recurring Monsilver Key in favor of just winning the game with the combo pieces you fetched up. It's still absolutely niche, and it's just a piece to increase combo consistency, but the fact that it has both artifact *and* sacrifice synergies built in means that the niche it occupies isn't exactly unpopular. Which is where my mind went with this card as far as judging it from a power perspective, because outside of that niche it's just kinda okay but could be better (no artifact recursion, but grabs you a single combo piece in a sac deck) to actively mediocre (grabs a single BASIC land.) But yeah, baaaaaaaaaaaaack to lurking.

So I basically built this, made a few changes and played it for the first time last night. Skipped the infinite, if I want cedh I'll go back to my chatterfang. Swapped in a miraris wake and this deck dominated. Between eternal witness and angle of glories rise they couldn't board wipe me, Cathars kept repumping everything. Took a while to go, about a 2 hour game but there was nothing they could do to counter this

In addition, who needs an alter, fiend hunter and angle of glories rise is almost a win con in of itself, you can't be board wiped, if that angel is in exile from FH, and your opponents, even if they removed half your board are going to avoid that FH like the plague so you can pump him and swing in constantly without real fear

Elite Scaleguard, I get looks very very in exciting, but at 5 mana and on a budget, I honestly think this is a semi Craterhoof Behemoth effect for +1/+1 counters deck. Out of nowhere, you can tap down all your opponents blockers and kill them on the turn you play the Scaleguard. This is a finisher if you build your deck right, and on a budget, it has won me so many more games than this unassuming uncommon looks like it would.

I agree, I have Elite Scaleguard in my hamza deck, which does make it cheaper so the CMC isnt as much of an issue, but even in other decks its insane You have some big attackers but cant get through, so you just tap all their blockers and now youve won

Mentor of the Meek isn't THE best white card draw, but it's some of the only decent repeatable draw in the color. Thinking Moonsilver Key is a format staple is a trap, when it is generally bad in most decks but will slot into several artifact-heavy niche decks well

@@NitpickingNerds I also think Moonsilver Key isn't super great but I also believe Mentor is no longer the card it was 5+ years ago. It's a 3 mana 2/2 that asks you to keep spending mana to draw cards with a restriction. Feels even worse if you've been curving out the first half of the game.

Yeah, Saffi is a low-key busted card. I run her in my 5c Sisay deck, and even though I cut the combo line with Karmic Guide and Altar, she is often either one of the first tutor targets to protect Sisay; or one of the last, so as to grab an A+B combo by using her in conjunction with Sidisi, Undead Vizier.

Bonus point with fiend hunter and angel of glorious rise it makes it so your oppoent boardwipe cannot wipe your human creatur nifty little protection just as a little upside for anyone who wanrs to know how you do it put angel exiled unter fiend hunter or any other way which is creature your oppoents boardwipe wola angel comback your entire boards comback and funny enough find hunter comes back so you exile the angel again wins and repeat

Moonsilver key is literally a reverse wayfarer's bauble, but it gets an artifact too...I see no problem with it.

Wayfarers Bauble can be your turn 1 play and activated turn 2 so you can have 4 mana turn 3. Moonsilver Key on the other hand is a turn 2 play that makes you spend 1 mana that you could use to play a 3 drop turn 3 just to grab a basic and put into hand versus play. (Though I will admit it grabbing sol ring or arcane signet isn't the worst play)

@@Goblin300 yeah I get it, it's not better, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as they're making it out to be. Ofc it's not gonna be in every deck, but alela uses it pretty good, get a faerie from it, and what ever it searches(sol ring or talisman) not that bad of a play or even osgir, to fix your lands or get your talisman or solring, and do it again twice after(or just use for his sac ability once you get the copies. I'm not saying it goes in everything(nothing does)but in what I've been playing recently, it works pretty damn good.

I know a deck that Basri's Lieutenant doesn't fit in, despite it being a white counters deck. Tayam, Luminous Enigma. Tayam cares about things being CMC 3 or less, so why should I care about this 4 mana thing? If it's more than 3 mana, I want it to be a creature (so I can hit it with Animate Dead) that instantly wins me the game if I play it with other combo pieces on board. Avenger of Zendikar is the only card in this deck that is going to be staying in when I have it in its final form that costs more than 3 mana. And even then, I can get my combo off just as well with cards that are in my 3 or less range, it's just that the only one that I can do this with on its own is Scute Swarm.

Citadel siege is a fucking amazing commander card and don't you dare say otherwise. You just only choose "dragons", and never khans. It basically negates a bunch of damage and its a fantastic political tool that allows the player using it to force deals and stop huge swings.

Biogenetic Upgrade is a Sorcery, not a Creature. Trying to figure out what you mean by “non-human cards doing human things”. It’s literally just a Sorcery that adds 3 +1/+1 counter and then doubles the ones that had them put on them. How is that not acceptable?

couple of things. 1. mentor of the meek - very weak include. mentor takes anthem effects into considerations it would very often end up not drawing at all as mentor is one, and you want to have multiple anthem effects. 2. little offtopic but why are you so high on slowlands? They go against what you preach. You often want to decrease average cmc of the deck and slowlands come untapped after you already can play most of your spells so they block the tempo and fianally allows plays when it matters less.

@@ramuslatsman6944 you are wrong. anthem effects like lets say glorious anthem counts into modifying power/toughness as the creature enters the battlefield not after it enters hence the oracle text is not related to anthems. Because of that you can't rely on it drawing a card. If you can - you play too little anthems in a deck like this.

Well they enter enter battlefield untapped almost every turn of the game. Game for us last 8 turns and up meaning it has a downside for a very small part of the game.

I got one in my Prerelease and will put it in my osgir deck. so i can get minimum a jeweled lotus, sol ring and Power depot/Rustvale Bridge. I think it is a great deal! Of course not in every deck, but with artifacts i think it's amazing

Honestly you can power this deck up without spending a cent by simply putting the draft chaff commander into the deck and putting kyler at the front of it.

I think Leinore will play much better than Kyler out of the box, her abilities are powerful and the deck needs card draw more than a lord

@@NitpickingNerds disagree on her ability being powerful. The fact it both requires 3 creatures in play and for them to have different power is extremely restrictive. She's fine in a deck, but is a middling commander at absolute best. I still feel like she's missing a line of text, especially when you compare her to Wilhelt who comparatively dumpsters her

@@spudster8887 her power is 0, which is unique to the deck, and the counter she gives can break any ties, so you really just need 2 other creatures to draw. Kyler is also laughably bad without other creatures, so that argument is pointless. Speaking of pointless arguments, the Cleaver isn't eligible to lead this deck, so that comparison isn't helpful.

This video is so disjointed. Constantly switching between cards you do and dont like, no listen visual representation of what you would switch for what aside from the quick visual of the card itself while you excitedly talk. Slow down, do better on the visual representation (ie take out this for that) and youll be doing a much better job of passing on your extensive knowledge.

You guys are talking too fast. Especially the guy on the right. I get that he's smart but when you're trying to explain something, you have to slow down. Showing a card for a few seconds while squeezing a whole paragraph into those few seconds is very difficult to digest. Those who can follow this easily probably aren't a target audience here. I'm a beginner, building in a budget, and I have to constantly stop the video and go back. It's no fun, honestly.
